If you could own any Tri Bike…Price not an issue…what would you buy and why? I guess you could create a small collection for that matter. Just curious what you believe to be the best…
Here is my list
Guru Crono (of course my bike) Love the custom geometry and paint, looks like a work of art, and manufactured in house
Specialized Transition The attention to detail is delcious
Kutoa Kueen K More aero than the Kaliber and super stiff
Cervelo P3C Dorked Out Engineering and dedicated to innovation, aggressive geometry
Max Lelli Liger Well it is named the Liger (it’s pretty much my favorite animal)
Pinarello Montello for the TT bike - I have one and it is fantastic. Looks great and rides better. I can’t see me ever selling it - even if I get another bike - it is just a great piece or art work.
I do also like the Pinarello Prince as a road bike. I think if I was making a collection, I would put a Colnago master in there though. Also great looking bikes, and give a pretty good ride for their time as well - maybe a bit heavy today… Maybe a Lynsky with a cool paint job as something a bit different - that also gives a nice ride.
I saw the Pinarello at interbike this year, and you are absolutely correct. It is stunning and lives up to the reputation of Pinarello Excellence. I was a bit disappointed to find out it is made in Asia instead of Italy, but nonetheless what a work of art.
Upon first introduction, the Plasma was definitely in a class of its own (super light, aero, and stiff) and is still amoung the top level bikes. Your set up is torch! I would guess the Plasma is soon to be retooled a bit to give a fresh look.
That is interesting! Just sold my second Ghisallo - which I really like… Went to a pinarello paris - which is a very different ride! Now I am use to it - it is by far the best handling bike I have ever had. Not as light or “lively” as the litespeed…
everyone’s putting their own bike at the top of the list! that’s not a dream bike, that’s reality. come on now, be creative…
that being said, got to have the most expensive bike out there right! well it’s got to be the
1- BMC TT01
2- Look’s track pursuit bike - same thing as the tri version but costs twice as much, nice.
3- off the price thing, but come on, if you’re not as fast as natascha badmann you’ve got a chance to ride like her
Cheetah!
4- last but not least, steal, indurain’s old pinarello espada from '94, that thing is sweet!
yeah i agree, I have feeling that something new is on the way in the plasma line…maybe/hopefully the head tube will be re-worked, which is basically my only complaint with it at this point.
The new Litespeed Archon (sp) looks sweet
Something from the guys at Roark (with couplers so I could travel with it)
A Rossin from the late 80s with Ghibli SLX frame…super out there paint…chromed stays and full Campognolo C Recrod Anniverary issue grouppo
Merlin Cielo with Campy Record carbon (to hang on the wall beside the Rossin as a converation piece)
Hotta with dual Mavic IO
oh my list could go on forever…so many bikes so little money and space.
I would get the perfect fit done, and then have a custom builder make the perfectly handling bike around that fit (in Ti of course), and then have custom molds built to make a one-off carbon bike in the same geometry.
pretty bike…and it adheres to most of the ST rules…big ring, small cog, parallel cranks, big drop from seat to bars…but the wheels…aren’t Attack and Force…clinchers???
I like the way you think. Taste is certainly discerning and while we do tend to defend our own choice of bike for a good reason; looking for that dream bike is the goal. So, the one custom bike that comes to mind (not on your list) is the custom calfee bamboo road bike. They never made a time trial bike out of bamboo but if they did I would certainly want to ride it and hang it
in my living room. I can imagine the custom aero tubing from carved and water treated bamboo. Natural and renewable bamboo, would be great to race at wildflower. That being said, I thought I would iclude a pic of my personal bike too, since it was once a dream and now reality to own.
something custom, based on a FIST fit, but not serotta (not a fan of theirs).
possibly something like a cheetah! (though, i have a feeling that they only do partially custom stuff) second option would be a guru.
after all, if it’s a dream bike we’re talking about, custom geometry is the way to go.
if i could not get my hands on custom geometry…
wasler.
pinarello montello.
quintana roo caliente.
cervelo p3c.
based on looks alone, i would want a TIME rxr in cofidis team colours. if i couldn’t get it in team colours, then no thanks!
parts: zipp sub9 disc/1080 front (if on the wasler, xentis mark 1 hm), neo pro crank from fsa, ax lightness brakes, campy record components elsewhere, oval or xentis front end.
