I’m in Denver working and staying in a nice AirBnB where I have the whole unit. Someone knocked on the door at 8:50 PM. It was a guy trying to sell pest control services. I was surprised that his company would let him knock on doors so late.
It was right at dusk so there was light out, but that seems pretty late. Anyone else have a problem with someone soliciting so late, or am I just grumpy?

Yeah, we tied him up and held him for interrogation for a while just to make sure. I don’t know if you’ve done it before, but waterboarding someone is a lot of fun. Especially someone that interrupts your nap because you’ve been getting 5-6 hours of sleep a night for 10 days.

That’s where the ring doorbell comes in handy and you don’t even have to open the door. You just ask him what he wants and tell him no thank you. Though in my neighborhood, there have been scammers posing as door-to-door people so no one really answers the door to any of them.

We have a large dog who loses his 💩 when the doorbell rings.
So my wife put a hand written note in the window by the doorbell.
It stated,“our dog bites and if you ring the doorbell I will let him out”.
That was an effective deterrent for sales people
Door to door isn’t super common these days but going into late evenings isn’t uncommon for those companies that still do it. They go when people are actually home so it’s probably encouraged.
I had an intern last year who in prior summers had interned at a pest control company that sold door to door. It’s apparently very lucrative for the door to door salesmen. I was surprised but the margins are huge and they get a big % in commission.
