.
Just got that and was heading here to post!
Seriously! I guess the hat, shirt isn’t enough of a statement!
Great, a new bag to replace that ugly fruity D&B print women have been toting around for years now.
I’d just go with the “everyone knows I did an IM because I’ve talked about it incessantly for the past six months” plan.

Well according to Lisa Bentley on the IMC coverage,Ironman is " one of the most important days in your life " so it only seems right that you have a fancy Ironman bag to carry all you medals and photo’s and an assortment of Ironman logoed gear to change into at any given moment.
I mean Superman and Spiderman are always ready to get their gear out so why shouldn’t we be as well.
215 dollars for a Satchel is pretty tempting…
That just came through in my e-mail and I was blown away by how idiotic this product was. I really wonder about what people think who work for these companies. Whiteboard revenue opportunities and coming up with high-end women’s bags branded with Ironman? I wonder if Coach or Tumi is kicking themselves for passing on this partnership. How much do you think D&B paid for the license?

LOL!

Look at the demographic that does these races……avg income of a participant is $160k. I can actually see them selling quite a few of these (to women) and men purchasing them as a gift. I agree, when you can buy Ironman underwear, floor mats, purses, and deodorant…that it risks weakening their brand….but for now, they will make money.

That income number is a croc and is just another of the many bullshit marketing factoids that Ironman throw out every year.
I just got back from dinner with four women, three have never done a triathlon but they do workout in the gym and one of them has only done Sprint tris. I showed them the picture of the bag and they all thought it was very cute. So yes I’m guessing there is a market for it. And yes they all have spent more than $200 on a bag.
I wish we had insight into the real sales and profit. I know the demo side of the equation, but just don’t see it being a demanded product - plus it is ugly. I guess we will never know, but if I ever see anyone sporting one in Atlanta I will send you a photo. When Degree was a sponsor, I never switched from my Old Spice classic…but I did by Mobil Gas when the supporting PBS. Guess we all fall prey to marketing.
PS - just showed my wife and asked if she’d like one from Santa - she said id Santa gave her that POS she would look for a new Santa next year…
I am waiting for the IM coach messenger bags that will dble on the back of my commuter bike. But only I they make it to chainlove or if I see it on front of Penn station the two times a year I visit there ;0)
How much wine did y’all consume?
Given these bags are “limited quantities” I doubt they will end up at TJ Maxx or Chainlove, but i might go for the messanger bag if they had one. The graphics on these bags is a joke. They actually had a picture of a IM back pack as one item and the helmet isn’t even aero. Thanks for posting this thread. It really made my night a bit more entertaining.

Margaritas.
And I’ll keep my Ora Delphine satchel.
why do i let myself be surprised by any of this?

I would gladly steer my wife to these and get her the heck away from Tory Burch and Nordstrom bags.
It doesnt appeal to me, but its not supposed to since I’m not in their target demographic. My wife thought it was cool, high quality like a gucci bag but with whimsical graphics. I’m encouraged by ironman partnering with high-quality products like Newton, Sugoi, even D&B. It used to be that the m-dot was pasted onto nonsense like generic mattresses and freeweight sets. purses dont appeal to me but i am guaranteed to see one floating around fairfield county on some hot w45-49 in the near future.
