With the recent addition of the “rules” tab in the upper right hand corner have you found yourself putting your O.T. (Off Topic) posts in the Lavender Room?
Are you visiting the Lavender Room more frequently?

Nope, never have, never will. Why would anyone come to ST other than to find info about swim/bike/run?

No
.
You know, I spent some time over there a couple of months ago, and it was interesting to say the least. My motto now is that I won’t discuss either politics or religion with friends, family or the crew here at ST.
I’ll stay in the main forum, thank you very much.
I broke my Lavender Room habit a couple months ago and am now up to almost 20,000 posts there since my last visit.
I have to say it has piqued my interest. That hottie thread is something else. Hey now!
This threas should be moved to the Lavendar Room…
No and it’s not really a new rule - maybe newly published…
Isn’t this thread OT
Nope. I rarely ever go there anyway.
Yes, however, I really wish that there was separate room for the political and religious threads, or ban them altogether (my preference). Even the names of the threads are obnoxious. I think this is why there was so much OT posting in the main forum.
Sanity necessitates I not go to any boards loaded with politics, the Lavendar Room included. I personally prefer the OT threads over here as I find in some way they’re still relevant a lot of times as triathlon’s a lifestyle as much as it is swim/bike/run. I find there to be something very appealing with this board just overflowing with things to talk about with some of them very triathlon related and some of them not so much. I figure it all kind of falls under the strange umbrella that makes us triathletes. However, I understand it’s not my board and I understand why the move was made. I just have a different preference.
I do both. Sometimes I feel like getting into a religion thread. Sometimes I don’t.
I always find it strange how some folks “rank OT posts”. Some folks don’t wanna read about religion & politics. Other folks don’t wanna read about cats, recipes & movies. It’s understandable.
Edit: I sound like a jerk/Weenie. I guess what I am trying to say is that, outside of not liking change, I don’t see the big deal. It almost seems as if some are offended by the suggestion (OT in the LR), and I don’t feel (or wish they weren’t) they need to be.

I agree.
Triple–I agree that not everyone is interested in all posts. It just seems like the political/religious threads are vitriolic and ascerbic and nego-buzz-kill-downhead and insulting.
You get into a cat thread, and really, all you can really do is feel sorry for someone who prefers cats to dogs, but you don’t “dis” 'em.
Allah Akbar, baby!
No, I’ve never entered that place. I like to talk here
I also hate the color lavendar.
vitriolic and ascerbic and nego-buzz-kill-downhead and insulting.
I have no idea what those big words mean
I used to spend time over there but gave up trying to talk sense to right wing conservatives.
My new policy is avoid most discussions that aren’t about triathlon.

I also agree that religious and political threads should be in their own specific place (which is quite common among forums) because they are very different than ot posts about movies, cats, restaurants, and what hotel should i stay at in San Diego. However I think banning them all together is next to impossible unless someone wants to moderate every thread on the forum.
On the OT in the tri forum problem, heck, when I look back over time I only see one or two threads per 100 that are blatently off topic, if that. Is 2% off topic a huge problem? What percentage on topic is realistic, 99%, 100%?
I’m not saying post more ot on the tri forum though. I think if a couple types of the blatent ot posts are removed, none of us really will have to think about it anymore. You know the type by the ones that slowman moves and the ones that stay…
