Does it always rain/t-storm in CDA?

What the hell? Every damn DAY…

It did last year - the night before the race. Race day was beautiful, though.

Not as bad as it does in LP. It ALWAYS rains there. Last year it rained the day before and after the race, we got very lucky race day.

Two years ago in it was 95 deg F. in for IMCdA. Thank goodness I trained in Texas. There was carnage everywhere at the end of the bike course, racers lounging around the sides of the road under shady trees like they have no place better to be. There were medical personel all over the run course giving IV’s and such… Trust me, you’d rather have some rain…

Last year as I drove from Spokane to Coeur d’Alene race morning I was watching lightning from a cloud that looked to be directly over CdA. By the time the race started there wasn’t a cloud in the sky. I think even if it does rain it’ll be more of refreshing shower than an ass cold body heat draining monsoon. You be a’ight.

BOHICA! (Love that name-- is it an acronym for what I think it is?) Yeah I was there and that is a great description of the race. I was one of the dehydrated skeletons jogging/walking thru the run. Man I really learned something about race hydration that day. The hard way.

Rain on race day would probably be a good thing – at least on the run. Come to think of it, I think we did have a very brief rainstorm during the run! Being semi-delirious, I really don’t remember too much about the damn weather on the run. The weather was fairly nice for the last 2 hours of my race however.

What the hell? Every damn DAY…

If CdA is getting the same weather pattern as Alberta , then this is a really odd year. It’s been raining for nearly three weeks and parts of the province are flooding. If the forecast for this weekend is correct, we will exceed the record for June rainfall. By this time of year, farmers are usually talking about how the lack of rain is hurting their crops. For all the years I’ve lived in Alberta, I can’t remember more than a handful of days where it has rained an entire day. Usually, it will rain for an hour and then the sun will come out. I forget what the sun looks like anymore. Heck, I forget what the office building across from mine looks like because all I can see right now is fog.

It’s anyone’s guess if it will clear up by the 26th… the forecast I’ve seen is calling for pretty decent IM weather, but I’ve stopped trusting what those folks say.
