Does anyone think that their Giant TCR is heavy?

Of course not. It is very light. Lighter than a P3, very cheap and good enough to win an Ironman. Not that winning an Ironman is an option for someone with my genetics. But with the exception of Bjorn anyone on this forum will have their arses kicked on a P3 or whatever adveritsed product is pumped into their middle class consumerist heads.

Forget all this Demerely aggressive marketing and other academically unqualified traders. These bikes will make no difference to your performance.

You guys are just a herd of fashion victims. And now that men with D cup boobs are riding these bikes - I will definitely stick to my second hand Giant. This aluminium compact frame is a bike porno. And to think it cost me half the price that you posers pay for wheels.

Speed cost money. Well, not in running, not in swimming and hardly none in cycling. Perhaps when you buy a race car – money means speed. My Lotus Super 7 is probably faster than 99% of road legal cars. In contrast my road bike is very very slow. With my lack of stamina and broad shoulders, the engine is too heavy and the carburettor is too small.

Is your real name dopey, or orang_utan?

People should buy whatever bike they like. The fact that they are not “winning ironmans” makes no difference as to weather they “should” have it or not. If a P3 is what you can afford, and it is comfortable then buy it. If you can only afford a Felt S32 or a Giant TCR then get that.

I would rather see people buying 3000-5000 bikes and riding them then sitting on their fat asses, smoking and drinking and driving my health care costs up.

You ride a TCR yippee for you. You pass people with p3’s and discs. Holy shit thats awesome. Get off your high horse and post something of some value next time.

Thanks Tibbs. Go steep and have a good time. But you got it for free. Well you had to write 1000s of posts for it.

Why do I care? I don’t care but I would prefer to learn something from people who know more than me. Not to listen to the same gimmics over and over.

I will worry about my own race. Thanks for your good advice.

Pluto, I bet there are many people who could hand you your butt on a Walmart special riding in jeans and cowboy boots. So, in reality, you’re just as bad as everyone else. Maybe once you become Buddhist and give up all your worldly possessions then you can talk about what people should or shouldn’t buy. Until then, don’t tell people how stupid they are for spending money on a sport they love.

I am not sure why it is okay to discuss the weight of a Cervelo but not a Giant TCR.

I can afford both. In fact I can afford any bike. When I bought my Ducati I got speed for my money, lots of fun and great style. I am yet to understand what you get from a Cervelo bike, or a set of wheels and cost 3,000. I love spending money. But I like value for money. I can’t see any value in a bike that cannot climb very well, cannot be ridden in a group and offer no advantage in a tri unless it is a short distance flat course.

I also thought that my limiter is the bike. I bought on an impulse a more expensive Cannondale. It made no difference. When I joined the local cycling club I was amazed how fit and skilled guys in their 50s can be on steel road bikes and how my shiny Cannondale made no difference despite me being in my early 30s. After a year of going with these guys every Sunday I became a very strong cyclist. But I am still a crap runner.

I rode with a group of Ironman athletes in a camp last summer and the contrast was amazing. M DOT tattoos, carbon everything, but their climbing was so poor and their handling skills were dangerous. Towards the end a few of them crashed into one another.

I am sharing here my point of view.

Well as I implied I don’t care about other people race. I do care about a forum that is more informative and less dogmatic.

The man’s got a point, he just has no tact.

Above average set of wheels and a good fitting bike. Thats all you really need to be up to par with all the other riders out there. Point taken. now stop being nasty.

<< You just want to rant about how stupid people who put aerodynamics and style over weight are. >>

No. people who get obsessed with weight are probably the worst bunch. They get a climax when they ask you the lift their bikes in the air. You need to say phwaa - this is so light. They will use special nuts to save 15gr in their bottle cage.

But I don’t think I rant. I am just a jackass.

<The man’s got a point, he just has no tact. >

Thank you! You undertsand me. I have a good point, but I have no manners ot tact. I am an aggresive person. I am also very arrogant.

If you’ve got a problem with my five-speed Ross Apollo Racer with the two-tier banana seat and dual top tube, well, we are going to have to step outside! You also probably have a problem with my low-top, black, Chuck Taylor Converse canvas sneakers.

From the age of 14 to 18 I was wearing these shoes everyday. I loved them. When I was 18 I joined the armed forces for fours year until I went to university. That was the end of my affair with these beauties. I nearly bought a pair three months ago, but my wife was ranting - “what another pair of shoes - you have 1 for running, 1 for racing, for cycling, trail running - we don’t have space for this”.

But I will buy myself a pair - you inspired me.

“When I bought my Ducati”

LMAO. I think you had an argument until you made this statement. There are plently of Asian bikes costing thousands less than perform better.

Also, I didn’t really care for your jab toward Tom. I find him passionate and informative about his work…

However…I will agree with you to a certainly extent b/c there appears to be a fairly vocal minority here that preaches a “cookie cutter” approach to better tri performance.

I own a Cervelo and TCR and have to say that I would agree with you on many points.

But…why make an issue of it. If people want to shell out for a new P3C then let them enjoy it. It’s their hard earned money and the can do what they want with it.

Sort of like the two brothers I know. One has a $29.95 Timex and a $$$$ Leica camera sytem and his brother has a $$$$ Rolex and a cheapo point and shoot. They each think the other is nuts. All a matter of your personal priorities. Ifmy priorities were a bit different I’d upgrade both my Cervelo and TCR to the carbon versions. Gotta wait until my daughter finishes university before I can even think about it.

BTW, love your Super 7, especially if it’s the twin cam dual Weber carb version. Personally I would prefer a car of that era over ANY new model super car. I’m sure this is one area that we’re like minded.
