I am sorry and sad to say–especially because I liked Lemond growing up and because as a US citizen, I tend to root for Americans–but he is bordering on pathetic.
Nope, I think he is courageous for staying on the case about doping and not letting it slide like the rest of the losers.

He used to be a great champion, but now he reminds me more often than not of an annoying chihuahua. Wherever there’s action in the cycling world, he’s got his nose in it, running around, peeing on the floor. YIP YIP YIP YIP!
I sure hope my cycling heroes never go that route.
I agree. Lemond is a whiny little girl. No offense to any whiny little girls. Seriously though, he needs to get a life. I wish Lance asked him about how his business was coming along.
I used to admire LeMond, he was a hero when I got into cycling. But he seems to have turned into a bitter person. Very sad.
Question for you guys, if you know someone was lying about your sport and was dirty, and you knew you had some amount of influence in the sport what would be the ethical thing to do?
Ignore it?
I say he accomplished what he set out to do. People are talking about him again… good or bad, he is now back in the news after that stunt.
I see what you are saying. It just seems like over the last fews years LeMond comes across ask a jerk and make himself look bad. I wish he could come off with a little more class and integrity.
What was the stunt? What did he do?
I’m embarrassed for him.
The people who lacked the class and integrity were all the guys cheating in the sport of cycling.
To give lemond a hard time about harping on it is kind of like shooting the messenger, perhaps.
Whether his intetions are just attention whoring or not, he does serve to remind us that humanity has a serious honesty problem.

Yeah, whatever dude. And how are you so sure Lemond wasn’t doping and yet Lance, as you seem to suggest, was. Lemond dost protest too much, methinks!
We all wish there were no dopers. And you are correct that the riders who were and are doping lack class and integrity. Are you saying that Armstrong is a cheat and LeMond was justified in his actions?
I agree… no matter who is and isn’t doping, he obviously cares about the future (and reputation) of this sport and will do what he can to keep it honest.
I doubt LA will do anything shady during the next TdF – there’s just no reason to risk ruining your legacy – but I’m also not convinced that he’s always ridden clean.
He just needs to shut up. Always complaining. Everyone dopes but him. He was HORRIBLE in the Giro in 89 yet weeks later was incredible, but he never doped… yea right.
If Lemond is harping on armstrong because he just suspects armstrong is a cheat, it may indeed be a bit much.
But if he KNOWS armstrong is a cheat, from conversations with him (as he suggests) then I think he is fully justified.
I certainly do think armstrong is a cheat, every single rival of his, and many teammates have been revealed to be cheats, and he destroyed them all on the bike, and he had a cheat doctor too.
The woman who testified that his confession in the hospital never took place, was recorded talking to lemond saying that she lied to protect her job, which makes for two witnesses to that incident.
theres no shortage of clues.
Maybe he was a total freak of nature who had a cheat doctor as coincidence, I don’t know.
It is really weird to me that there are so many people who seem to dismiss that he was on drugs. Seems pretty clear ALL the top riders of that era were on drugs.
Maybe lemond was too, I have no idea. It would be a weird thing to harp so much about doping if you yourself doped too, but then people can be weird.

Say what you want, but Lemond totally hooked me up with a new bike.
Gary Mc
do a google search for the audio. he was pretty much off base in his comments at Armstrongs deal at Interbike.
The man won 3 tour de france titles, then stopped winning when the other riders started on EPO. That cost him millions of dollars and his respect for the sport that was his life. The other riders took the honor our of riding a bicycle, and you think he’s a winer? I suspect it’s too late for you to realize what that would be like…you’re too far down the path of blaming him and idolizing Lance.
I don’t know if lance raced clean or not. I do know that a whole bunch of guys who were doped to the gills couldn’t beat him, and that members of his own team did it to help him win. No accusations, just the truth.
Chris
I cannot disagree with anything you say.
I go back an watch the 99 and 00 tours and I makes you wonder.
It will be fun to see how the next 9.5 months unfold for Armstrong.
I still wish LeMond had a better reputation when it comes tho these situations with Armstrong/Landis/Hamilton/the bike business. He comes off bitter.
