Does anyone 6' tall ride a 54cm?

I’m just under 6’1" and currently ride a 56. I have no reason to believe that this isn’t the right size, but I’m curious to know whether this is worth investigating further…

FWIW, I’m 6’2" and ride a 55.

I’m 6 feet and ride a 57cm toptube for the road and a 55 tt for my tri bike.

Tri bike or road bike?

I am a touch over 6 feet tall and would ride a 54cm in either the P2C or P3C.

If my memory serves me correctly either David Millar or Dave Zabriske is over 6’ tall and rides a 54cm or 56cm frameset in their road bike. I just spoke with the fellow who set them up with their equipment yesterday but I don’t recall the specifics of the conversation since I was busy at the time.

I am 6’1" and ride a 56, but recently messing around on my wifes 54, since it was on the trainer, it felt pretty comfortable. I may purchase another and see what happens.

i’m 6’ and ride a 56 road (prbly could do 54) and 54 tri bike. i could swear i also read Bjorn Andersson and Fabian Cancellara were 54cm on their P3C’s

I am 6’ and I have a 56 road bike which is comfortable.

I tried a 56 tri bike and it was too big (to spread while aero) so I went with a 54 and its very comfy.

All depends on the frame. A 56 Felt B2 felt great as well.

I’m 6’0" and the folks at InsideOut Sports recommended a 55 cm QR.

Yes I am a little over 6 ft and on a 54 P3C and a 58 R3 - both fit well.

I’m 6foot1 and I ride a 60cm… I’ve never been fitted or anything… By experience would you say that my frame is too big? I’ve had the feeling it is for quite sometime. Its a Felt b2… I did put a 90mm stem on though to shorten it a bit

I am a little over 6’ tall (not enough to round up to 6’ 1") and long waisted. My 58cm Trek 2000 was a bit too short in the top tube, and when I bought my Trek 5200 I went with a 60cm frame and a 10mm shorter stem. I’m very happy with that.

My P3C is a 56cm. The 54cm felt too small with my elbows in my knees and all that, and the 56cm feels fine. I don’t have a super low aero position, though, so I wonder if I should have gone with a 54cm anyway, so that in the future I can get lower / tighter in aero.

The vast majority of our customers who are 5’11" and up (to about 6’2") ride 56’s (on their tri bikes).
At the lower height end, a lot of them could also fit 54 but the 56 usually is better.

If Zab and Fab are on 54’s for TT-ing, it is most likely due to the UCI rules.
A seat 5cm behind the BB instead of 2cm in front greatly increases the effective size of the bike (ie - toptube length)

Chrissie W. (ht = 5’7 or 8") rode a 54 at Hawaii

I’m no fit expert but I’m going to go out on a limb and say a 60cm tri bike
is probably a bit big for a guy your size.

Thank you for the great feedback. I’m referring to a tri bike. I’m a bit surprised to know so many six(+) footers are riding 54s. Makes me wonder if I need to go back to the drawing board, although Don’s point on Chrissy W. sticks out (especially since I’m strongly considering a P2) – I can’t imagine that I would ride the same frame that a 5’8" person would ride.

Being very much a novice when it comes to bike geometry, the next question I would have is: Is there so much of a difference from one size to the next (when it is a close call) that it can’t be overcome through fitting / adjustments?

Agree with the previous post and believe that I read where both David Z. and Fabian C. are riding 54 P3Cs. However, is the rear position on the Cervelo seat post being used to meet the UCI regulation?

Look at Cervelos size chart.
The top tube goes up 2cm or less per size jump.
So yes, stem and seat adjustment can accomodate that.
The toughest fits are right at 5’10 to 5’11.
They can easily fit either bike so it comes down to how they feel.
At 6’2", the debate is between 56 and 58.
Long leg guys who ride the smaller bikes often have a problem with their knees hitting the pads.
I’m 5’9 1/2" and ride a 56. I can also ride a 54 but prefer a 56 (actually the 55 P3 SL was perfect).

I’m 6’1" or 6’2" and ride a 57.5cm TT on the road bike with a 120mm stem,

and a 56cm Dual with a 100cm stem
.

I believe they do use the rear position to meet the rules.
Whatever it takes to get 5cm behind (plus whatever the other reach/length rules are).

For the average agegrouper, 99 out of 100 Cervelos (that we sell / fit) are set up in the forward position (to achieve a nose of saddle over or in front of BB).

I cringe when I see a Cervelo at a race in the back seat position. I want to pull out my 5mm Park tool and do a free adjustment while they are out warming up.

Im 5’11 and im on a 51 p3c. I was previously on a qr with a shorter top tube, that bike was a 56. I thought i would be on a 54 but was recommended to go with the 51 but the position feels great. Is that pretty weird to be my height on that size?
