C-40 = The Great Pumpkin (Rabobank paint scheme)
C-50 = Orange Crush (Rabobank paint scheme)
Track bike = Dirty word (because that’s what I mutter under my breath on a 43 degree bank with 30 other riders)

My Yellow Felt was named Jerome and I was sad to see him go. No name yet for the Trek, and not nearly as much personality as Jerome.
I’ve had a zillion bikes and never named any of them. Then I got a P3sl this year (black anodized finish). Put VT integrated bars on it and when I mounted the Renn disc and Zipp 404 on the front (decals removed for maximum stealthiness) I was just awed by how cool it looked. It was the SR-71 of bikes … the Blackbird!
.
Post some pics please!!! I want to see the Blackbird

I don’t understand why some of you people get rid of your favorite bikes. Why did Jerome have to go? Why?
Too small for a good fit, otherwise he’d have never left. I’m no fool…
Orange crush - that’s a great name.
I got my new bike today - I’ll get some pics up tomorrow, hopefully. Took it for a ride this afternoon, and decided it needed a name! I’m calling it “Chatter.” I like the word, you get that nice sharp sound from the ch and the tt, it fits the bike I think.
Does your bike have a name? What is it?
Tell us more about the new bike! I don’t know that chatter is a good name. I had a bike once that “chattered” and it was not a good thing.
I just named my new Stumpie HT… it is the first of my bikes that really has a name…
Reddie Freddie
Reddie cos it is red and race ready
Freddie - after the nickname i gave my grandmother (fred)

Not because it “chatters” - I like the word, it sounds nice.
It’s a Cannondale CAAD 8 R700. Silver frame, black saddle/tires/handlebars/fork. Eggbeater pedals that I am having some trouble getting used to.
And it’s GORGEOUS and I love it soooo much
edit - this is my very first road bike, it’s so exciting! my toes got really cold while I was riding this afternoon though. I need nice wool socks to go in my bike shoes!
I think that brings up a better question: Do you nickname your grandmothers, and why Fred?
Overshoes are the answer
.
I haven’t named my new bike yet, but my old bike was named Shania. Why, after Shania Twain and then I could tell people after my long rides that I rode Shania for 6 hours today :-)))
2004 Cannondale R400- Old Faithful
2006 Cervelo Dual- Johnny
I like Chatter! Can’t wait to see the pics!

This bike I did. She’s black and yellow and I named her bumbles. And it is a girl. Calling it a boy and bumbles just doesn’t go well. All I need now is a killer bumble bee sticker.
Flannery O’Connor wrote a novel called “The Violent Bear It Away.” when a friend saw the title on a copy when she was a kid, she thought it said, “The Violent Bear Itaway.” It always makes me laugh, so I call my Guru “Itaway.”

Glad your new bike is here! You’ve been waiting. I had the most gorgeous Cannondale with a custom paint, blue, pinks, and white that I had named Jellybean. But I killed her driving into the garage last May. My new Cannondale Six13 TT is aptly named THE GIRL! She has my name written on her…“kat” She is quite fast (or maybe I am) HEHEHE…
Enjoy the ride on your new bike…it has been amazing temps here in Maine…not sure if you have the same further north but today was a whopping 60 down on the seacoast!!
No names for inanimate objects!! I do like to punish them though… They generally reciprocate in kind.

Only really named two:
Allison
Trixie
.
First bike: 2001 Giant OCR-3. Named it the Millenium Falcon. “She may not look like much, but she’s got it where it counts.”
Current Bike: Guru Chrono totally maxed out (Campy, Oval Concepts, Z4 Wheels). Named it “Spite.”
Good thread.
I named my QR Lucero “Lucky Lucy.”
