Do SRAM AXS shifters have hood buttons like Di2?

Currently a Dura Ace Di2 user and I really enjoy the buttons on the hoods. Does sram have these? Looking at a new bike and only sram builds are available due to the shimano parts shortage.

There is a button on the each paddle. That button is normally used for trim, but can also be used to change the shifting mode (e.g. from normal to sequential). I’m not aware it can do anything but those two functions (but I haven’t exhaustively played with the app). Like I don’t think you can use it to control your Garmin head unit or anything. At least not yet.

There are Blips and MultiClics that can be connected to the hood. Those buttons can either remote shift or be set up to (according to SRAM) to other AXS functions. But, again, don’t think you can control head units, etc.

Thanks for the info.

You’re referring to the buttons on the top of the hoods, correct?
If so, no: the SRAM shifters do not have that.

Yes the buttons that you can program to toggle through computer screens, shift, etc. I guess the answer is no. Thanks.

I have been trying to think of a way that SRAM could have button functions like Shimano on the hoods, but I never thought about using those small buttons on the inside of the paddles!

The large paddles and solid feedback click from SRAM AXS in addition to the confidence inspiring grip have slowly made me forget about the buttons on the hoods of Di2, but I honestly wish I could get both on one platform.

This is, unfortunately, a drawback of SRAM as I too very much like using the Dura Ace shift lever buttons to scroll through my Garmin screens. The only solution that I have seen to replicate this with a SRAM set-up, and its not nearly as elegant as the Dura Ace brake lever buttons, is the Garmin Edge Remote Control…

Oh interesting. I have never seen this before.

I wonder if there is a cool setup or mod to get this to have better ergonomics to use it while riding.

What is your setup like with the controller?

I am in the process of building up a Cervelo P5Disc with SRAM right now and am thinking about this as a possible solution. I don’t have any other good ideas, other than don’t do anything and just swipe the screen when I want to change. Will let you know what I ultimate decide to do and post a picture or two.

I know it’s certainly a first world problem but I really like those hood buttons. I honestly can’t believe sram wouldn’t have them as expensive as AXS is. Strange.

Totally agree.

Now I’m really starting to think up some crazy ideas… I’m going to start searching for sram blip mods. I think I remember someone modifying the smaller shimano sprinter buttons to work with sram and placed them in the drops, but I wonder if anyone has tried to place them on/near the hoods for shifting?

But I guess at the end of the day its not a full work around if SRAMs grips cannot communicate with your Garmin to change the data screens… can they do that?

Most likely it’s patented by Shimano.

Yea I didn’t think about that. You’re probably right. I guess I’ll survive without them 😂
