DNA Tests for IQ

How many things have people tried to do, that they just weren’t smart enough to accomplish?

Seems like the overwhelming, vast, vast majority of things in life really have very little to do with the kind of intelligence measured by an IQ test, or perhaps intelligence at all.

If you’re stupid enough to get one, we already know your IQ.

I dunno. My wife’s friend is an adult special ed teacher and she told us about a gentleman who was recently placed into her class, and who was miffed that he was there. He kept stating he didn’t belong there and said to her “I have an 84 IQ” over and over, and was proud of it.

Here’s something from Wilder.com on IQ ranges:

Over 140 - Genius or near genius.120 - 140 - Very superior intelligence.110 - 119 - Superior intelligence.90 - 109 - Normal or average intelligence.80 - 89 - Dullness.70 - 79 - Borderline deficiency.https://www.iqtestforfree.net/images/iq_bell_curve.gif

The above pretty much jibes with my personal experiences as both a military person and, after retirement, as a manager, general manager, director and other leadership positions, all with hiring (and firing) authority, believe me. I see it every day. (And I can almost guarantee – because of the hourly pay we offer – that my company tends to hire rank-and-file folks from the left side of the above curve.). We have a few college students, for sure (two right now who are math majors at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor), but they bail as soon as they graduate, and who could blame them?

At least now you have a better excuse… genetics.

I didn’t say I would (I already know mine. I’m over on the right side of the curve, though you wouldn’t know it by some of the things I post here ;-). I said I’d like to have a few of my friends and family members tested. Because some of them do things that make me want to shout this:

A cardiologist friend of mine has maintained for years that if you have good genes, you have everything. I don’t know about genetics and mental/cognitive abilities, but it sure seems to me he’s right about physical outcomes, once you control for outliers.

Intelligence-wise, some of you are obviously extremely good mimics. Monkey see, monkey do. I’m sure you know what I mean by that.

You started it. And thanks for the complement. Do you know how many things I write psuedonymously, by the way? Probably not.

Now, do you want to have a serious discussion about the IQ thing that Mr. ThisIsIt brought up or not? If not, you should go find something else to do with your time, madam.

Interesting… Are you claiming to be this person (from Brooklyn), who came up with the monikers “Camera Hogg and Shaved Guevara” on their blog earlier in the day before you ‘borrowed’ them and thought you were so clever? Or who yesterday described the YouTube shooter as a “whackadoo” shortly before you did the same?

Absolutely not. Did I make the claim that I came up with those names, which are in common usage among a myriad of conservative-leaning and libertarian websites? As far as “whackadoo,” I can show you posts of mine from years ago where I used that appellation to describe someone of interest. You’re claiming those three appellations are somehow subject to copyright protections and ‘fair use’ labeling? You can’t be that supercilious, can you?

Wait. Forget I asked that.

There’s no problem you borrowing those phrases, and the fact that you used exact phrases on the same day describing the same people as JJ Sefton’s blog, is a clear indication of where you get your material. It just amused me that you accused me of mimicking. The irony…

I have scored between 120-135 a few times.

I do not have “Very superior intellegence”. I think that most of you would agree.

IQ tests prove one thing…

How good people are at IQ tests.

Nobody said 120 - 135 was ‘very superior’.

ETA - and don’t sell yourself short. The average person is an idiot.

I’m not saying that there aren’t plenty of dumb people out there, I’m just saying I think that the vast majority of people are smart enough to accomplish whatever it is they want to do if they apply themselves. Especially since other things like interpersonal skills have far more to do with success than smarts.

The picture that BK posted says 120-140 is “very superior”.

Big K did earlier in the thread.

BLeP is selling himself short though. Actually, all of us agree that his intelligence is far below “very superior”.

Wouldn’t that be pumping my own tires rather than selling myself short?
