DIY huaraches anybody run in these?

So, my wife did a 1/2 marathon today and tells me about a guy who ran with her most of the way in flip flops! She said it was the most annoying thing to hear the clap clap for the entire run. I look and find the guy’s picture race # 106 and he has on the “DIY Huaraches”!

You can pay $50 and have them made or $25 and you make them yourself. I think I’ll stick to my Brooks!

i thought you were talking about the old nike huaraches. those were a good running/tri shoe.

I agree with you…those old nike huaraches were great. I hated when Nike stopped making them.

I like the “sprinter-style” rigid & straight hands & fingers, too. Really pulls the look together.

Most awesomest shoe ever!!!

I just wore my new huraches at the Kaiser 1/2 marathon in San Francisco. They were calling me “Flip Flop Girl”. I love them and they will be especially nice in my next ironman, when my feet can spread out and stay dry. Plus, I no longer have tan legs with white feet!

I considered the DIY but went with Luna Sandals and I am glad I did. Barefoot Ted and his team of Monkeys have given me great customer service. They make custom sizes and when I sent a photo of me in my first pair, Ted told me to send them back so he could trim them up - as a hurache newbie, I know I am getting the right fit. Ted spent time with me explaining many sole and strapping options so I know I got the right sandal for my running form and running surface. Sure, they may be expensive for a flimsy little sandal, but far, far cheaper and more durable than any running shoe!
