I was planning on checking out the course before the race, alas this isn’t gonna happen. I’ve been trying to find a decent elevation profile of the bike course with no success. I’ve read there’s total of 7000 feet of elevation on the course but I keep reading conflicting reports, some saying it’s rolling hills and some say they are long and steep. I can’t seem to make up my mind if I want to race on a disk wheel or use Zipp 808. I am concerned that the weight of a disk would outweigh its aerodynamic advantage on a very hilly course. Can someone chime in?
On an extremely hilly course, yes the 808 is better. The amount of hills you’d need, however, are quite extreme. You’ll be faster on the disc, even if it’s a cover.
As for elevation profiles, map the course on bikely.com - it gives you elevation profiles.
disk. it’s not that hilly.
