Raced on Sunday - I uploaded the bike data from my Garmin Edge 500 to Garmin Connect and it showed my average power as 216 watts (SRM power meter). I converted it to a tcx file and exported it to WKO where it indicates that my average power was 199 watts. A 17 watt discrepancy is significant and I am wondering if anyone has encountered something similar. Which number is accurate? Thanks in advance for any input.
how are you averaging them? one could be a moving average and the other one be the average over the entire ride.
Also of importance (most importance) - is whether or not either/or has zero averaging on.
What is your NP? maybe garmin uses a NP and wko will give you both which would be about right given the numbers you stated
Is ride time the same? One be including the time your bike was hanging on the rack before going to sleep.
Usually this is due to one program (Garmin Connect) not including the zeros, and the other (WKO) including them. So if you spent some time coasting on a downhill, this might be averaged into the WKO and not in the Garmin Connect. If this is the case, WKO is a better representation of the workload.
