These appear to be very similar or same wheel from oversees. I looked on other budget wheel sites and they to have very similar looking( cut out) and width wheels.
Are these brands getting the wheel from same factory or are they different?
I am quite sure that Hunt do their own rim design and that Prime are a very separate company but who knows if they each buy some of their rims from a similar open mould in Taiwan? For instance I just bought alloy gravel race disc wheels from hunt and no one else had a set at a similar weight. I was not looking at carbon though.
Its possible they are both open source wheels rebranded from the same factory and thus being the same (other then the fact one in rim brake). Infact its very likely given the price point.
I think they were the same wheel. Hunt hasn’t sold the disc here in the UK for some time, so read into that what you will, with mixed reviews on the Prime wheel.
Maybe go light bicycle? There are some similar 28mm width disc wheels cropping up from China too, have a look at Proxcarbon.com, both rim and disc.
Maybe the pic shows the rim but they are both disc brakes on the website. Yes I was wondering about the same open mould. It is interesting the price difference between the two. Maybe the Hubs could be different and that’s interesting about the xdr. Thank you all for the help.
I know there are few really good manufacturers of disc wheels and tri spokes in China and the demand is low vrs other wheels, so few brands really invest in a mold for disc wheels…
So, chances are you are correct, they are one and the same. but I cannot confirm that but from eyeball checking
Ah DhL did hit me with import tariffs. So figure and extra 120ish for that. A bit surprised they don’t make any mention on their website.
Tariffs are different in every country and change frequently. Processing them also varies by carrier, of which there are many in each country, and is very inconsistent. Can’t expect them to keep track of all that and tell you whether/how much you’ll pay. Best they can do is say “you may get charged import duty” which isn’t very helpful anyway, since that applies to any international purchase.
