Disc wheel - deflection while climbing

My disc wheel is set to spin clear and centered. However, when I get out of the saddle to climb the tire rubs against the left side of the frame near the brake. Is this normal or anything I can do - besides sit and spin?

What disc is it? I am 190-200 with power numbers at 1300+ in max numbers. My Renn flexed all over the place when I would really attack a climb, or out of the starthouse. I switched to a HED Standard disc and have not had any of the problems that I was having.

i normally leave my rear brake a little more open becasue of this. My doesn’t flex that much though.

My Zipp disc flexes enough to hit the brake pad when I climb. It’s a common problem that I address by 1. opening the brakes; 2. sitting and spinning (depending on the course, I’ll use a 12x25, or 12x27).

The time savings over the flats and descents outweighs the occasional rubbing while climbing. If anything, it forces me to take it easier on the climbs, which prevents a HR spike which would rob power and energy for when I can really open gaps, on the flats.

this is what i do too…it works.

it’s a renn 575. thanks

My Hed Standard doesn’t rub and I don’t notice it flexing.

I have the same problem with the same disc. Fortunately, I race almost exclusively in the midwest where I rarely need to be out of the saddle.

My Renn 575 was the first disc I ever had that I could go hard enough to flex it into the rear pads. I’ve had a Zipp 1150, Campy Gibili, HED Standard, Renn 575, HED3d and now a new Zipp. I never flexed any of them into the brakes except the Renn.

I just rode my new 575 and had noticeable flex issues…wish I would have found this thread earlier, I may have gone with a HED disk.
I weigh in the low 150’s but there are some pretty significant hills I ride, even on my ‘flat’ loops.

I was riding a HED trispoke rear, and went with the disk for aerodynamic reasons.
Now I’m wondering if I should just stick with the trispoke, especially if PM Ohio course is hilly.
