Disc Wheel Covers (EZ Gains), Punctures and Tubeless Question/Advice

Last year I purchased a EZ Gains Disc Wheel Cover which was great. I was running tubeless and all was good. However, while riding I had a pretty large puncture (sidewall) which could not be patched, so I needed to put in a tube.

Since the wheel covers block a majority of the base of the valve stem it was impossible to remove the tubeless valve stem since it was so deep behind the cover. I had remove the wheel cover, tape, etc. to remove the tubeless valve stem, to make way for the valved tube.

I am concerned if this happens in a race, it could be a ton of wasted time untaping the cover, screws, etc. to simply access the tubeless valve stem.

I contacted the company and asked what others were doing about this and there was no real suggestion or solution, which is why I am here :slight_smile:

Anyone using a disc wheel cover and had a similar issue?

(Added some pictures for context)

Had an EZ disc, didn’t use tubeless. Try a hex nut rather than the tubeless valve nut and carry a box spanner in your spares kit?

Maybe aesthetically not the best solution but you cut cut the ez disc access whole bigger so you can reach the valve nut (i assume that was the biggest issue) and use tape our two covers over it. there would be essentially no impact on performance.

@Tri78910 @jn46 - thanks - both good suggestions.
