Okay…so i have a disc cover from wheelbuilder that is set up for a ksyrium wheel but i need to cut it for a 404 wheel instead. im very nervious about this being a student where if i mess this up, even the cheap cover is a big loss to me financially lol…so all the advice you guys can give me is deeply " DEEPLY" appreciated.
lol no…i figured they puld say to send it in so i wanted to know if anyone here had done it or had any experience on the matter…that will be my plan b
.
okay…what should i use to cut it? you think scissors ould take care of it? and to measue it for the rim, i should just line it up and draw a line of the cover? and out holes in for the clips

Don’t bother with the mounting holes. Just use 3M electrical tape on the edge. In fact, when I had my covers cut by wheelbuilder.com for my Jet 90, I specifically asked them to omit the mounting hardware holes.
lol…id rather not got the duct tape route… be never know …it may rain and i may on a course with a one sided disc wheel lol…rather go the mounting clips

I’ve done exactly what you’re planning to do a couple times now. Here’s how I’ve done it:
-I set the cover on the wheel I am cutting it for and figure out where it shoud be cut to appropriate overlap the edge of the rim.
-I use the wheel as a compass of sorts to make my cut line: I tape the cover to the wheel. I then take a big headed nail with a peice of fishing line tied to it and drop it in the quick release hole so the line can freely move in a full arch around the wheel. I then tie a small nail or other sharp object to the other end of the line at the appropriate place. I then use this smaller nail & line to score/scratch a line around the cover (my cut line).
-I then carefully cut the cover with sharp scissors.
-I repunch fastener holes with a normal paper hole punch.
I hope that makes sense, it’s easier to do than describe. Cutting the covers is really pretty easy, it’s just a matter of making sure you cut it in the right place. When in doubt cut it a bit too big, you can always trim a little more but you can’t put anything back. Also be sure you are careful about where you punch your fastener holes so both sides line up and so they don’t interfere with any spokes.
