one aspect of the hamilton case i seldom hear or read is this:
have any of you ever been falsely accused of something?
either thru malicious intent or general imcompetence/misunderstanding ( or both ) had a serious case mounted against you which rose to the level of legal action ??
while it is fun to cite the Oj case, and armchair quarterback from a scandal loving safe position, it is no picnic to be in such a spot yourself.
first of all, it is massively expensive. OJ aside, compared to most of us with our limited resources the state, or governing body has basically unlimited resources. an individual defending himself pays for every e-mail or phone convestion with his representative, while the prosecution actually gets PAID to pursue the matter.
secondly, it is not about justice, nor truth, by and large. once something gets to a certain level justice and truth are long long gone. all that matters is winning or losing.
thirdly, there is always damage. reputation, stress, health, outside pursuits, etc etc all suffer drastically and to some degree irreparably regardless of the eventual outcome. often, to seek civil comepensation for these damages is unfeasable.
all this, even if you never did anything wrong. it happens to somebody every day. media love a scandal, but you never hear of the pain and loss suffered by those who have been thru the mill for no good reason - it just isn’t fun news, and we would all rather think/fool ourselves that justice is always done.
i don’t know what tyler did, or didn’t do. neither do you. but, i would ask you think about the above before you join the feeding frenzy. think of what things would be like if you woke and found out there was an injust, tho juicy case against you.
