CEP makes the ZOOT socks through the end of this year. They are the same socks, different color.

And CEP socks are by Medi. I personally wear CEP socks. Would rather buy directly from the source.

Have a pair of CEP and SLS and both are equivalent in price, durability, quality and performance.

I have CEP and SLS3…have tried many of the others 2XU, Recovery Sock (Desoto), etc, and CEP and SLS3 are far and away the best from a compression, durability, quality standpoint.

I’ve got 3 pairs of SLS3’s (they are a tri club sponsor, so we get a nice discount)

2 pairs of the regular compression sox (one white, the other black) and one set of the compression sleeves.

Perhaps totally coincidentally, my 2 worst results this year were after I wore the sox the day beforehand. So I’ll never do that again.
I’ll look like a tool on raceday, but not hanging at the expo the day before.

I like the sleeves for racing. No time penalty in T1 (I swim w/ them under wettie), and everything else is as would be otherwise.
Have occasionally had issues w/ the socks sliding down my calves - can’t/doesn’t happen w/ the sleeves.

I like the sox for recovery. They are EXCELLENT in that application. My semi-chronically bum calf really likes them.

Have only had them since the Spring, but they are holding up quite well. Nice and snug, but not uncomfortably so.

CEP works better for the Ironman Friday night banquet.

I’d add Desoto to that list. I’ve got a pair of their new compression socks and they’re really nice. Lots of compression throughout the foot and calf, priced right ($40), and of course outstanding customer service to boot (pun intended).

Agreed…I won’t wear them day before race anymore after similar poor results but I like them alot for my long training runs and I’ll be wearing them for Silverman Full in November.

Wore the SLS3 sleeves for a few races this year and loved em!

are CEP and the sls3 solid in the foot area to prevent swelling?

Yes, and SLS3 also sells a padded version of the sock which is a little thicker for extra cushion under the foot.

here is a succinct review of compression stockings:

they are all a waste of your hard earned money and are for old people with bad veins, not athletes during exercise.
do some reading on the phenomenon called the “muscle pump” before wasting hundreds of dollars on stupid looking socks.

im quite aware of the skeletal muscle pump as well as 2 other pumps in the body.

if compression socks prevent some swelling that occurs in many during the last few miles of the marathon, i believe its definitely worth it.

For any brand, I dont like ones with stirrups that go under the heel. This always seems to come out.

are the plethora of “fad” stockings on the market effective for deep vein thrombosis prevention?

i feel like there is a paper waiting to be written here. if i only had the time :stuck_out_tongue:

“i feel like there is a paper waiting to be written here.”

LOL!!

You know that we’re really a bunch of dorks when…

I like the SLS3’s padded socks… great for long runs. Wear the normal socks or sleeves while sleeping, both are SLS3’s!

“Medi” or mediven probably makes most of the socks listed (I know they make CEP ones). They have made compression stockings/garments for years (way before this current “fad”)

I found out at Imoo that one can just wear soccer shin guards…I guess they do the same thing! (yes, I have photos)
