Went to the bike shop last night and rode the Lucero (59cm). The guy told me I definitely needed a 61cm because of my height (6 foot 3), but they did not have any. When I rode the Lucero I noticed that when I was down on the aero bars that I sat perfectly in the saddle. As soon as I began pedaling though, I noticed that I slid up some onto the front of the saddle.
My question is (since I am new to tri-bikes) would the difference in length between the 59cm and 61cm help reduce the amount of sliding forward when I pedal or make it worse?
I"m 6’3’’ and ride a 59. 61 would be too big. Its My opinion that you want the smallest bike that fits you and are comfortable on. Plus don’t all riders slide forward in their saddle when they are down in aero position and working hard?
Go to www.rooworld.com and check the size for the L, i think that the top tube lenght is 56.5 cm. Quintana Roo don’t make bigger than L, but all is how you feel aboard the bike.
I am going to have to go get fitted professionally. i thought this guy knew what he was talking about last night, but it seems that after talking with some other folks, he didnt have clue. he knew road bikes, but not tri-bikes, and since i am new to them as well, it makes for a bad pairing.
Definitely get a fit. I, too, am 6’3". When I got my first bike 15 years ago, the frame was WAY too big. Because I have very long legs (36" inseam), I ride with a shorter frame (59cm) and a longer seat post. My short upper body means I really have to stretch to get on a 61cm…but it also depends on the brand of bike.
