Diet Pepsi at Ironman LP

With all the talk of them running out of coke, someone mentioned that they were serving DIET PEPSI. Is this actually possible again. It first happened years ago at Ironman Florida. Can someone confirm that this was the case ? It is almost a good thing that they ran out of this stuff if it was diet. I can’t imagine doing the full 26 miles on the stuff and progressively feeling worse and worse not knowing that I was taking in zero calories from liquid. Perhaps IMNA saw that the sponsor had delivered diet cola and decided to shut that stuff off rather than put the athletes in a bad position as they progress on the zero calorie plan !

In any event, aside from the issues related to running out of cola (whatever it was), I thought the event was very well run and went off without a hitch and I have already signed up for next year.

Diet MPro prize money: -0- / + Regular FPro prize money X Hot diet pepsi for age groupers = Massive Bullshit.

They ran out last year at mile 14 I was a 10:45 finish. Completely f%^ked up my race. I trained this way. This organisation sucks. have reaced IMLP since the the 1st one in 1999 aug 15, they have gotten worse every year. I refuse to race another US IM Race.

Hi Dev,
I couldn’t confirm it to 100% but one thing is sure the brand of cola wasn’t neither coke or pepsi it was some kind of home cola. I drink a lot of soft drink (cola) and I can make the difference between coke and pepsi. Pepsi has more gaz then coke. The other difference is coke is a lot sweeter. I prefere pepsi but this not the subject of this post.

There was different taste from one aid station to another even at one point I’m sure that I could taste “aspartame” which is what they put in diet soft drink. So my final answer is yes there was some diet cola.

This is worse than I thought!! As if offering no MPro prize money was not bad enough, they (IMNA) deliberately subjected unsuspecting age groupers to the “Pepsi Challenge” in the middle of a race, thereby allowing FPro walk-a-thoners an unfair advantage!!

Sorry no pepsi out there only home brand cola…It’s cheaper!!! When you need to cut the costs… You also forget about the green bananas on the bike course…
