Did I sell out

I received a healthy discount code for Nike. I caved and bought some Alpha Flys - $170 is pretty good right?

I have some perfectly good Metaspeeds (orange) but they do not match the kit.

I guess that’s a double sell out?

It seems like you got a good deal and you’re happy with your purchase

Did you sell out, though?

It depends on what level of disdain you have/had for NIKE and if you feel that you sacrificed your values in any way?

When NIKE bought Converse, I had to say to myself ‘Well, that’s it for me, sorry.’ I still wore what I had, but would not buy any more

When my last pair of Chucks wore out past wearability, I replaced them with VANS (of which I already had several pairs), thus completing the transition away from Converse

A Punk who no longer wears Chucks seems - to me - like a rare thing, indeed

With deeper digging I’m sure all of the other shoe brands have unsavory moments as well, and then we get into moral equivalency which is always a quagmire.

Yeah, VANS (my casual shoes) or asics (my running shoes) probably have their issues, too, as far as sweatshops and unsafe material handling go, but at least they respect their female athletes

Also, they fit me better; NIKEs were never that comfortable, really, so I was clearly drawn in by the marketing - I was a Pegasus guy for the longest time

Now, if you’d gone from adidas to Puma (or vice versa), there might be some discussion

Also, you were wise to get in before the Tariffs hit us all

Word :raised_hands:

Did you get the original Alpha Fly or the Alpha Fly 3’s? $170 is about the best price I have been seeing for the Alpha Fly 3’s. I know some people who have 5-6 pairs of super shoes who say that the Alpha Fly 3’s are all they are going to race in this year and they are getting rid of their Vapor Flys, Meta Speed Sky, original Alpha Fly, etc. I shopped around for new race shoes last week but decided to race this month in my original Alpha Fly that I got 2-1/2 years ago for $97 (including taxes) from the Nike outlet store. I got a pair of the original Alpha Fly in 2021 for about $170 and then a second pair when they were on the sale a year and half later. They are the only two pairs of super shoes I have ever owned. I have 120 miles on the first pair and 60 miles on the second pair.

They are the 3’s…I couldn’t not do it. Any discount would have swung the pendulum heavily in their favor…I was shopping discounted alternatives, but nothing came close.

I have also had a chance to get into the new Vomero’s - really great trainer, this has been a long awaited success in the trainer side of Nike’s line-up.
