Searched the internet, but couldn’t find anything. I’m stripping by Di2 down to the frame and can’t figure out how to get the wiring out of the frame. Any help? Do I need any special tools for removal? I had my LBS build it, and this is my first time doing anything like this so I’m pretty clueless.
Ok, so you’ve removed the shifters, FD, RD, and now you just have the wires in the frame?
Your problem is you’re probably not seeing the internal junction box down by the crank.
There is a 4 port box that has 1 wire to the RD, 1 to the FD, 1 to the internal battery, and 1 to the front junction box.
You’re going to have to remove the crank and get your finger up there to find an Etube wire and start gently tugging until you find the junction box.
Then CAREFULLY (best with the Shimano tool…) pull each wire out.
Have you removed the seatpost to see if the battery is in the seatpost, or the seat tube, or somewhere else?
Good luck!
Alex, this was super helpful. What shimano tool are you talking about?
The battery is actually bolted on to the chainstay.
The Shimano tool is (IMO) way more useful for plugging in the wires than unplugging them. I wouldn’t bother using it to unplug at all, in fact.

Depending on your frame you may not have to remove your crank. I have the new P3 and my 4-port junction is accessible from a little opening at the very bottom of the bike. My 4-port junction is pushed into my drive-side chain stay.
Just curious, why are you removing Di2?

Very well, then you have an external battery. So the 4 port junction is at the center of the FD/RD/Battery and then has a long cable up the drop tube to the front junction.
You just need to figure out the easiest way to get at it.
I have to remove the crank anyway. Stripping it down to send into calfee. damaged chainstay. ![]()
Link to Di2 tool. It’s useful and cheap
I like it for both insert and removal
Which one do you have? The old DA is totally different and connected inside the down tube and extra closed with special glue shrink hose.
You gotta get that whole thing out first, disconnect and get it out at the top. But for sure and both of em use the tool. If you fuck up anything at the old one it’s gonna be expensive.

That’s a hell of a good observation, I assumed it was newer Di2 with Etube wiring
