Di2 9250 FD not shifting to big ring

I have the 12 speed dura ace di2 9250 FD and after all the adjustments with the Etube app it will not shift into the big ring when it’s supposed to. When the chain reaches a small cog where it would usually jump, it doesn’t. The FD makes a small move but it doesn’t push the chain all the way over.

55/42 chainrings fwiw

Any help would be appreciated.

We’ll need a lot more info to problem solve this, but to start with… doesn’t sound like Shimano crank/chainrings. What are they?

Make sure no wires are kinked
.

They are Shimano Dura Ace chainrings on a quarq dfour.

During synchro shift once the RD gets to a certain point it shifts the FD up to the big ring.
It is not doing that. The FD moves a little but does not push the chain to the big ring. It doesn’t even touch it

Just to cover all bases - Are you sure it’s charged? Di2 low battery mode goes into RD only

Haha yes. It’s 100 percent

There are easily 1/2 dozen things that could cause this. Easiest thing to do is probably just start from scratch setting up the derailleur using one of the many good instructionals on YouTube

Yeah I figured there could be any number of things.

It’s just weird because when in adjustment mode it will kick the chain over but as soon as it’s back to normal mode, it will not.

Also have gone thru the adjustments on etube a few times.

The bike shops here are no help either.

Seriously, it’s highly likely a kinked wire. Might even be kinked in certain positions. Check and unplug/replug all wires, push them in real tight and recheck for function. Particularly check the cable leading to the battery - if that’s kinked, you get exactly that - incomplete big ring shifts even if the battery is fully charged.

Do you have the support bolt/plate set correctly?

It’s not a kinked wire if it shifts in one mode and not the other
.

Your bike has probably switched back to manual mode.

On 12-speed TT/Tri bikes you don’t have a dedicated front shift button, so you rely on (full) synchronized shift to automatically shift the FD.

When you change certain settings in the E-Tube app (like for example synchro settings, but potentially also others), the bike reverts back to manual mode.

To change back to synchronized shifting, (quickly) double press the button on the rear derailleur. The LED will then tell you what shift mode you’re in.
If S1 doesn’t work, try S2

I had this exact problem on my 11 speed ultegra di2. It started in the middle of the ride, perhaps from low battery but didn’t correct when charged. I tried most of the things suggested without success. When I took it to the local shop they said they upgraded the software and reset the shifting to manual and then synchro shift. It works fine now. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info yall. I’m gonna try this today and pray that’s the issue.

I saw I needed a firmware upgrade and did that, but maybe now the shift from manual mode to synchro is what is needed. Fingers crossed

It’s not a kinked wire if it shifts in one mode and not the other

True, but does OP have this problem? If it’ s only half-shifting into the bigring (or less), kinked wire is likely with a full battery.

Would agree with you if it works fine in one mode but not the other.

So… did you fix it?

Called a mechanic from a shop in AZ and he helped me.
Got the different buttons doing different functions. Made two of the shifters only shift the FD and it finally works!

I was wondering about adding some climbing shifters to add more functions but that’s a whole nother can of worms.
