Devilman HIM

Is anyone doing Devilman who lives in the area?

Its been fairly cool down here in maryland and I curious if anyone has any idea of the water temp for the devilman. if its as cold as columbia 2 years ago, I’m out

thanks

there was a thread about this i think a few people are doing it. search the old posts.

I emailed the RD last weekend to ask about water temp and he said by race day it would be around 70 degrees. I don’t buy that. Probably more like 63-65. Regardless, there are a few new maps on the website you might consider checking out.

I’m riding the course tomorrow, will take the water temp for all interested.

I’m sure there’s a Wawa nearby, if anyone needs the pond warmed up.

I took the water temp today when I rode the course. Waded in to about mid-thigh and got ~68. Would imagine it’s closer to 65 in the middle of the pond. It’s cold but not unswimmably cold.

Good to hear. How was the ride?

The first 14 I had the wind at my back, the 2nd 14 was into the wind. I’d expect this on race day. We’re so close to the water that it’s almost guaranteed to be blowing. The roads are a bit unpleasant in a couple spots, some patches and potholes. Keep your eyes open and you’ll be fine. All in all, it seems to be a very fast course.

The locals might be the big unknown for this one. Open course and this is not what you’d expect to find in NJ. Think backwoods. Hopefully they’ll be on their best behavior.

The run is on packed dirt, just hope it doesn’t rain.

What might “best behavior” be exactly??? And are the locals Anglos or more Latino these days???

Wow, you actually have dirt down there??? All I have is sand. It’s nice white Pine Barrens sand, the kind that used to make excellent glass back in the 1800’s, but it’s sand just the same.

The locals are more of the whitetrash variety. As far as behavior, I am hoping that we all survive the bike without incident from motorists. NJ folk, of which I am not one, are not known for their patience.

The trail was packed dirt not barrens sand, which I am well familiar with and loath. Please note that I did not run the whole trail so it could degrade to sand at some point.
