I recently had surgery to repair a detached retina (victrectomy/scheral buckle.) I’m now three weeks post-surgery and the doctor tells me the repair has healed perfectly.
Problem is that somehow as a result of the trauma of the procedure (doctor isn’t quite sure why) my cornea has become inflamed. But for the cornea issue, doctor says my vision would more or less be back to normal.
Curious to know what other’s experience has been with the same or similar surgery, e.g., recovery time, time to restoration of vision, time to return to training, etc.
I went through multiple detachments, bubbles, lasers, OR trips and the buckle about 8 years ago. I have quite a bit of distortion but I believe that was due to the detachments and not the sclera buckle. Return to training was fairly quick after the required week being face down. I have some catarac development for all the work that was done. I was cautioned to wear eye protection to prevent injury on top of insult. I go back yearly for check-up ~ got to watch the other retina closely.
