Desoto power lycra durability Q

I picked up a pair of the Desoto Power lycra shorts in mid April - first pair of shorts from Desoto. Love the design (4 pocket version) and they have become my short of choice. Today on my long ride i noticed a decent size hole at the seam where the pad is attached to Power Lycra (I love saying Power Lycra - it makes me feel faster). I don’t wear tri shorts the pool and always wash them in the sink w/ cold water after each use.

All my other tri shorts have yet to wear out and are 2 years old with significant time in them all. I like these shorts so much i was thinking of buying more but at over $50 per pair, i need more than 2 months wear.

Does Power Lycra wear faster than non Power Lycra shorts?

Did I mention… they are Power Lycra. There, i feel faster already.

I have had this problem with zoot, orca, pearl izumi, but never with DeSoto. I would call their customer support. Most likely they will replace them. They are usually indestructible.

Agree with the other posters. Mistakes happen, and Emilio will make you good. Just call them and they’ll send you a new pair.

I have three seasons in the DeSoto power shorts, with 3 pairs in my rotation. I wear them on 80% of my training runs, and in all races (running and tri). They are finally beginning to unravel at the crotch seam after umpteen zillion runs and rides. Well made stuff.
