Down in the carribean is a nasty hurricane with 150mph winds set to rip Cuba in half and continue up to Florida. This is nuts. I think someone is telling me to move.
Florida got hit really bad last year. If this becomes a regular occurance due to climate changes it would certainly make me evaluate.
was a little windy this morning here and has been getting windier all day… I definitely feel for those in the Panhandle.
Yeah, this hurricane stuff is getting old but at least we can see it coming and get out of the way. Imagine if you lived in a shack in the hills of Cuba.
I just read that Dennis destroyed about 3000 homes in Cuba (shacks) as it made landfall and cut it’s way across the island. What ever unfortunate point in the Panhandle that it takes target on in the next day or two is going to get whacked hard.

They said on the news this morning that if this storms reaches the Gulf as a Cat 4, this will be the first Cat 4 in the month of July since at least the 1700’s… I can’t help but think we’ve been so lucky down here that it must be our turn soon…
It slid by us to the North- and with little effect thankfully. This is a very powerful storm, God only knows what the devastation will be like in Cuba and the US Coast? We had the most amazing lightning strom here last night- pure white briliant skies for 2or 3 secs at a time, then the heavens opened up. No real wind to speak of though. After Ivan last year, I don’t think we are ready for another monster yet… life ain’t easy living 5 feet above sea level sometimes.
I hope it weakens over Cuba a bit and breaks up some… not nice to see what to can do

Having been kidney-punched by those two bitches Jeanne and Frances last year, I am wondering why I am still sitting in the same location this year.
We live on one of the barrier islands on the east coast. Our back yard is on the river and the Atlantic is less than a half a mile away from our front yard. I used to wonder if this was paradise but now wonder if it is closer to hell. Funny how easy perception can shift.
I guess every place has there own weather terrors, though. Tornadoes, heavy winter storms…
Thoughts and prayers are with those in Cuba and everyone else who will take a beating from Dennis.
Come to the Northwest, no weather terrors to speak of!
just the odd quake and volcano!
Would it be difficult doing IMF during a hurricane? I imagine aerodynamics will become even more important?
Were getting a BJ from mother nature right now:)))))))))

We actually do race down here during feeder bands from tropical storms if conditions aren’t too bad in the opinion of the RD. No reason to cancel a race just because the NHC is making advisory noises.
Car is gassed up, picture windows are covered, I’m doing laundry now, extra cat carrier has been purchased, and we’re looking to head toward Jacksonville at the crack of dawn unless the storm starts going wide left of the current forecast track.
This shit is getting pretty old.
