When you vote for a party you are giving them real power so you do have to take the credit and blame for what the party does.

He has done a great deal to advance gay rights (DADT repeal, advocate DOMA repeal, grant rights to federal workers, etc.). Lots of folks have an issue with gay marriage (both for and against). I have much more respect for people on either side who have a sincere conviction (even Ann Coulter !), than folks who simply use the issue as a part of a weak and confused partisan attack.
