Need a dehumidifier for my basement (about 1500 sq feet) any recommendations or warnings to avoid?
I have this one. Have had it for about two years now, works fine and is fairly quite compared to my old one. My only issue is taking the tank apart to clean it, it gets kind of moldy in there if you forget to empty it.

Best if you can setup a drain line instead of filling the bucket.
I have one from Frigidaire that stopped working over the first winter. They sent me a new one, but since that took two months I bought another in the mean time from Costco. They both work fine until they don’t.
I have the older version of the one AndysStrongAle linked. Works well. My only knock is that when you remove the tank to dump it, you have to return it just right in order to get it running again.
I have an older version of this one. Third season for it and has worked great. My basement is disgusting when it’s humid out. We moved in on a hot weekend and the moving boxes we put down there were melting from moisture. I have to empty this almost once a day when it’s really humid / hot out. Wall mounting it by utility sinks is on the plans when we redo the basement.
Frigidaire dehumidifier
I have to get another for garage. Anything that is cloth can get moldy in there in the summer.
Only warning for the one I have is clean the filter. I’ve been doing a lot of work in the basement this summer. Walked by the dehumidifier not long ago and thought that’s blowing really hot air and doesn’t sound good. Pulled the filter out and it looked like the filter from dryer after towels went through it. Cleaned it and it went back to quiet and cool air. I guess those clean filter now lights really mean something !

I personally have 2 Frigidaire units. They both work exceptionally well.

Yes, you definitely want a drain line. Otherwise the tub fills up, you forget to dump it often enough and no.dehumidifying goes on.
