Defiance

Set in 1941 in Bielorussia just when the Germans have invaded, the story of 3 brothers whose parents are murdered and who decide (a bit against their will initially) to help the Jews running away from the (not yet) programmed genocide.
Some scenes are very intense whereas at times things get a bit on the slow side, but the 2 older brothers (Daniel Craig, and Liev Shreiber) do a great job, in their own style. Even a couple of funny moments despite the situation…The thing I couldn’t help thinking during the movie was ‘man, it must be so f…g cold!’

Although the movie could be a bit shorter, you don’t really see time pass by while watching it. Really liked it.
For those wondering about Bielorussia vs Belarus (I was one)…Bielorussia is the name of the country in Russian, Belarus is the name of the country in its own language…

On a side note, I saw (again) recently the Power of One…great movie, with a young and mean Daniel Craig…really makes me want to go to SA some day.

Have you read the book Power of One? I enjoyed the book but heard that the movie differed significantly, so I never bothered getting it…

I have read several books for Bryce Courtenay (in particular the potato factory trilogy) but not the power of one. The movie is good nonetheless.

My dream growing up; to be shooting Natzis dead! Looking forward to the movie.

Defiance and Taken are two movies I really want to see.

I just took my son and two friends to Mall Cop and it was funny, in the way that was expected, but I’m ready to see some “guy movies”.

I saw taken in France…really really cool movie…Liam Neeson kicks ass.
