Anyone familiar with Deep Creek Lake on the far Western end of Maryland?
I’ll be there for a week and just wanted some suggestions of roads to ride or to definitely stay off of.
Thanks

Deep Creek is spectacular there is a huge park and big ski hill so they will be no shortage of climbing. The roads will all be about the same except for the main drag to the interstate. You could do the savageman course and report back on how nasty it is 25% grade at one point.
WAY COOL!! I’ll be all over that course! Unfortunately I have a prior engagement for the week of the race. Perhaps next year.
Hi Nat,
Check out http://www.savagemantri.org/ you could probably ride the course and have a good time.

We’ve got a group up here doing a training camp right now. Probably the nicest swimming and riding you’ll ever do. Yesterday was 103 miles with 10,000 feet of climbing, tomorrow is 111 with 12,000 feet.
SavageMan course is a great option as well. You can’t go wrong. Buy a Garrett County Map and stay off the main roads and you’ll have a great ride.
i’ll be in deep creek for a week at the end of this month. obviously i’ll check out the savageman course, but any recommendations on other hills or routes to check out? also any good run routes or trails? finally, is it worth bringing the MTB down?
thanks for the input!
Oh yeah.
The Garrett County Gran Fondo. If you’re real fit and have all day, do the Diabolical Double. Guarantee it will be the hardest ride of your life. 125 miles, 15,500 feet of climbing. Savage Century = 102 miles, 12K feet. Fabulous Fifty = 50 miles, 5800 feet.
All awesome, awesome rides.
The answer to this question is always the same.
The answer to the related “where do I swim” question is similar.
