Anyone know where I can get good deal on a pair of Sir Isaac (10.5)? I bought a lightly used pair of stability trainers here on ST and I am sold on these shoes. My current shoes are worn out but I have a tough time spending $150 plus shipping for a new pair.
let me know if you find anything.
I would keep checking ebay. I bought a pair on there but they rarely show up.

I ordered a pair from TRISPORTS.COM on Tuesday. They got here yesterday. Love 'em so far. . .
Use the SLOWTWITCH code for a discount.
Hmmm… I just tried that earlier today. It did not work. Would not accept the code for Newton shoes. Did you only order the shoes? If you ordered additional items I suspect you got the 10% off on those but not the shoes. I’ll try it again…
heard they are offering military discounts—around $100–great for them
.
not that it is a great deal, but I just got an email from them offering free shipping.
Roadrunner Sports has the Sir Isaac in your size, and it’s available at a discount through their VIP program. If you’re not a member, sign up for their mailing list and you’ll receive periodic 20% discounts in the mail. I’m waiting on my next one to buy a different Newton shoe.

I know you said 10.5, but I have a pair of 14’s that someone can have cheap. Less then 30 miles on them and only one achilles injury…
Yowza. 150 bucks for a pair of shoes. Good luck in your search.
The Slowtwitch coupon code worked for me, although I didn’t actually order them.
I know shoes this expensive are controversial, but I’m actually considering them. I have soft tissue damage in both my knees due to earlier hijinks and keeping my knees healthy is a big concern of mine. I’m doing my first open marathon in January (WDW) and wondering if these might be worth it. I don’t know though, are they really worth it?

I’d recommend you go to a local running/tri store that carries them, and run with them for a couple minutes on the in-store treadmill. I think you’ll know pretty quickly if the Newton’s are right for you. I really like 'em, but they sure are pricey.

I like em, but they are pricey. However I can get 4-500 miles out of a pair of Newtons for $150, but have only been able to get 2-300 tops out of Brooks or Mizunos (which I also like) so I’ve been going with Newtons the last year or so.
Thanks for the tip.
400 - 500 miles? I got about 250 out of mine. The part of the outer sole right under my toes is completely worn out. The sole is basically gone and the fabric is showing however I am still a fan of the shoe.
My shoes wore out in the front with the lugs wearing out front to back. When I had about 300 miles on them they still felt ok but I e-mailed Newton and they had me send them a pic. They told me that 1. the wear pattern indicate that I was in the correct style of shoe and that 2. I could wear them until the front of the lug was basically ‘flush’ with the rest of the shoe, which I did. The lugs then went from nothing to almost a full lug going front to back, and there was very minimal heel wear.
Those were the Stability trainers. The last pair I just bought was a pair of the racers to just wear on race day.
With my Brooks and Mizunos I was getting normal wear patterns towards the front/ball of my feet and after 2-300 miles I would start to get small aches and pains in my ankles, shins etc… These would go away as soon as I would switch out to a new pair.
I’m not 100% sold on the lugs doing much, but I do like the shoe, fits me nice, I can go up to Oly distance sockless in them and their customer suppt was good. If I got the same mileage out of my Mizunos I’d probably just buy them as they are cheaper and I can buy them local.

Seriously?!? I wear Newtons and I can’t imagine putting enough miles on them to do this. Something on my body would break first.
I am not wearing down the lugs much at all but the area in front of the lugs is almost gone. I probably need to drop my heal a bit and be less on my toes. As I think of it, it will probably provide a bit more cushioning. I’ll give it a try tonight…
When I first started trying this style of running I was definitely overcompensating and striking too much on my forefoot. Definitely started some blister issues. When I settled down and relaxed, they quickly went away. It also felt more natural as well.
