DC Wrench?

Hi. Looking for some advice for an expert wrench in the Washington, DC area. I am looking for simple competence in building up tri and road bikes.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

I’ve been happy with College Park Bicycles, they’ve replaced a headset and brake pads for me. They are fairly cheap ($40 for the headset including parts) and don’t have the attitude that seems to be present in a lot of other area stores.

I take my bikes to Revolution Cycles in Rockville. Their inventory is limited (they are a Trek concept store), but Marty and his folks in their pit are great.

The Bicycle Pro Shop on M Street in Georgetown. Hands down the best.

I like Conte’s in Arlington. The mechanics (especially Greg) are pretty good. For totally custom road bike stuff, Marc Walowac at Spoke’s in Alexandria (Quaker Lane) is pretty good. A buddy of mine configured a totally custom Serrotta w/SRAM Red bike using Marc.

+1 for the bicycle pro shop - they’re a bit snooty, and more $$ than everyone else, but you couldn’t find better wrenches anywhere…

Conte’s in Arlington and Bethesda has done an excellent job by me. They do sponsor our tri club and several other members have had great experiences there buying and servicing their rides. Several other good shops mentioned also, but the local Conte’s is more than worth a shot.

Good luck,
Paul

I have had good luck with Conte’s as well. Nice folks at both area stores.
