As a daily lurker, I’ve noticed that the board has recently had a bit of a different feel to it.
Not as ‘classy’, you might say.
What criteria do you use for pulling posts etc.

unless it is slander, it stays…there has really only been one banned posted ever…and that was after repeated warnings…

As one of the guys a few people in recent posts might want to censor, I’ve at least got to ask why are you only lurking. Why don’t you start posting and upgrade the quality of the board.
I agree with Cerveloguy on this one. The best way to influence the content of the forum is to contribute to it in a positive way with questions, input or experiences. Everyone has something to offer.
The posts that are a little weird or off color- just ignore them and don’t respond to them. There has been an odd shift over the last few days so I just do other things for a day or two until it goes away. If it doesn’t just go away, then it is time to put some effort into the forum and start some worthwhile, compelling threads.
An Internet forum isn;t TV, it is interactive. It is what YOU make it. Collectively, it is what WE make it- but we have to make it something. If it goes sour we have no one to blame but ourselves.
Boy, I’ve definitely never thought of this forum as ‘classy.’ How much have you been lurking? I’ve read and seen some very racy stuff around here over the last couple of years. My feeling is there’s too much censorship going on these days, with all the Janet boob fallout.
It’s all about self-censorship here. I only remember one post ever being pulled and it wasn’t due to a sexy photo or raunchy talk.
It comes and goes in waves. You’re an adult. You can handle it. Just avoid those posts and let those who wish to participate, participate.

Your suggestion would imply that such brilliant posters like Mr. Tibbs and myself would not be on here, and great lovely pics of Becca would not be here. What kind of a board would we have left?

Yes, some posts are ‘off-color’, as some would say. But GOD, some of the off-color posts (and screen names) are very, very funny. And don’t we all need more humor in our lives?
No problem, I appreciate your curiousity. ORD is the US 3-letter identifier for Chicago’s O’Hare Airport (I live in the vicinity and fly/work out of that airport).

I certainly am not suggesting you should be censored!
When I first started training for tri in the early 90’s I used to read the RST newsgroup until it was invaded by morons who seemed more intent on flame wars than content. When I started reading this forum, I was (and am) impressed by the humor and mutual respect shown by the posters. Frequent mentions (directly or indirectly) of masturbation etc just don’t work for me I’m afraid.
As for why I’m a lurker- others generally post before me and generally more eloquently, plus I’m a crap one finger typist. I have posted at times when I have asked the board for info.

It’s not all about masturbation, beating meat, jacking off, bishop polishing, spanking monkeys, shining rods, and the like.
I do know about other things. But Mr. Tibbs telling all about his wrists hurting from bishop polishing made me finally feel that I could come out to the world.
Besides, it’s healthy, it does not get women pregnant, get you diseases, or into trouble. It can give you rug burn if you’re not careful, however.
We needed less matter of fact posting, anyhow.
I will not engage in flame wars here. I only want the freedom to express myself and who I am.
