I sent an email a few weeks ago to an address I found on this site but since I didn’t receive any reply I just wanted to make sure that Dan knows how great his training program is and what an impact it’s had on my life.
I the summer of 2002 I had a son with CHARGE Syndrome and without getting too much into what that means, he basically has a series of birth defects that happen during the first trimester. It is our first child and, needless to say, we were devastated. We spent 9 weeks in the hospital and the first 6 months worrying about him and what our lives were going to be like… mourning the loss of our “ideal” life.
Last summer I really needed a release for this tension. The stress and anxiety found me overweight, overtired, and extremely out of shape. I had lost my edge in the sports that I play and was in a pretty depressed state. That is when I found the 21 week training program on Active.com (sorry if this is starting to sound like an infomercial). I also started a pretty agressive diet on Ediets and ended up having to add a LOT more calories to the plan.
I began the program in May of this year and did 3 short triathlons during the summer. I dropped about 20 pounds and pushed myself further than ever before. I gradually began to feel like I could face the challenges of the new obstacles our son was presenting. My basketball game and surfing skills improved incredibly just from being stronger and in shape. I gained back my athletic “edge” that is so important to many of us. And now, feeling overweight and out of shape again (not nearly to the extent that I was), I signed up for the Wildflower olympic course. I’m an addict.
I just wanted to say thanks to Dan for putting the program together. It may not seem like such a difficult task to him but I’m sure it has effected more than just my life. Sean, our son, is doing great and is a little ham.
Thanks!!!
