I started looking at the Kona video collection after reading the comments about bike set up during the early 90’s. Looking at the tapes, Wolfgang looks way ahead of everyone in his position, with JZ also looking good on that Softride. But what was really interesting to me was NBC’s (and former Olympic swimmer) Mike O’Brien’s set up–an early Quintana Roo, looking VERY well-positioned for 1993…especially for a relative rookie doing an IM distance for the first time. I thought…“I wonder if Dan did that…?”
A number of people obviously rode well, but looking at some of the bike positions on the tapes from these years is cringe-inducing.
