Dan Bigham’s trispoke

https://cadencycling.com/eu/product/tri-spoke-carbon-clincher-wheelset#

Interesting axel/hub design to cut down on the frontal area! Must have been good enough to run at worlds.

Thanks for posting I noticed it but hadn’t heard of them before The hub looks tiny. I wondered if he would run the Revolver tri spoke as Alex Dowsett had in the past or if he would go back to the Enve. He did use their Asym disc so wonder if the Revolver trispoke works best for disc brake set-ups and the small hub on the Caden is better on a rim brake bike where the hub doesn’t have to deal with braking forces?

He’s been using that wheel for a while now in some form or another. Looks like they put some caps on it and ran a solid track axle (in that picture) for the front. It’s the same mold as the Revolver wheel (the non-disc version at least)
I know at least one person on here that has tested the wheel and found it pretty slippery.

I’ve got an open mold of it set up tubeless on my TT bike, I was about to order another tubular for the track bike but I decided to wait a little bit and see what Aerocoach’s trispoke looks like.

What am I looking at here? Counter weights? Scale comparison?

Honestly I have no idea what is going on here. This looks like a regular rim and not the trispoke, so maybe they are trying to find some appeal with my fellow Americans by comparing rim depths to various rounds of ammo?

I picked up a LightBicycle 69mm trispoke earlier in the year for $417+shipping and love it. It’s been great in TT’s and on the track. https://www.lightbicycle.com/photowall/Full-Carbon-69mm-Trispoke-Wheel-For-Road-Rim-Brake-Bike-3K-Twill-Vertical.html

They’re trying to show that these wheels are of a high calibre.

Someone is going to shoot you down for writing that.

Could you provide a link where the open mold version can be purchased?

This wheel isn’t an open mould wheel, its designed to be an improvement upon the pro trispoke. Slightly Deeper, Wider rim and smaller hub

hmm. It definitely looks like the same (open) mould as the Revolver wheel with a slightly different hub in it to me. Got more info on that?

Synergy (Xiamen) store on Alibaba is where I got mine. A few stores sell it, kinda like ebay, just pick a seller with a lot of good feedback.

The whole shape of each of the spokes is different, and the way it connects to the rim. They are super similar, but you can for sure see they aren’t the same wheel. I haven’t seen any copies of the Caden tri spoke at all compared to the heap of the revolver tri spoke on multiple websites

Hmm I guess the spokes are straight vs the revolver clones.
I must be getting old, would have never missed that 5 years ago. Not just my speed that’s waning it seems

Interesting, I’ll have to look for one like that

Does anyone have a rough idea on the potential watts savings for this wheel over something like a Zipp 808? I understand it depends on the bike/fork, etc…

Completely irrelevant.

You gain 50w in cool factor running a tri spoke.

I’ve tested this exact wheel against a 60mm and 80mm………… 13km hilly loop which certainly doesn’t favour a trispoke but it still out performs the other wheels.
I’ve ridden this front wheel in several races now (70.3 and IM)……… haven’t tested wattage saving but it certainly feels significantly quicker than 60/80mm especially on flat fast efforts

Can I ask you for the weight of your LightBike tri spoke? It looks like a very cheap option and if on par with the Revolver, etc., would be a complete no brainer!

I’m generally between 150-155 anymore.
I believe there is at least one other SlowTwitcher that’s has one as well and I’d say he’s just an all around bigger guy than I am. Regardless the wheel feels solid in the 3 bikes that I’ve had it in.
