I’m visiting Cypress in about a month (end of June) and trying to research lap pools (or open water?) and it seems like there are lots of really good pools but they’re within communities whose website (and presumably the pool too) have restricted access. Anyone from the area with any local tips or suggestions?
My vote would be VillaSport (I was a member there) on Barker Cypress near Coles Crossing or Lifetime Fitness on Fry Road near Bridgeland. Both are higher end and nice gyms. There’s also a LA Fitness near Coles Crossing at Barker Cypress and 290. I was a member there before VillaSport opened.
VillaSport has both indoor and outdoor lap pools. There’s also Fleet (competition swim club) on Spring Cypress but they have a limited open swim schedule.
As for open water there’s Towne Lake but that’s for residents.

Hey, thanks. I’m not sure what part, but I’ll have a car. Villa and Lifetime have day pass fees of something like $48 or $50. I don’t need to swim THAT badly. LOL. Gonna look into Fleet. Thanks!

Perhaps the Langham Creek YMCA has better day pass options? Heck you might even be able to get a free trial. I used to pay $60/mo. for my membership, might as well sign up for a month and swim as much as you want.
I live in The Woodlands, and you can swim at the Conroe School Natatorium. It’s $5/swim or 11 swims for $50 if you get the punch card. It says 19, but I THINK they still make the first swim free if you buy a punch card. They’re strict with the card, and it’s paper, but it’s a great pool with plenty of lanes and has had good bourse for me. That’s the place I’d start looking for sure. The other pools are pretty standard gym pools in my experience, or absurdly expensive.
I would hit LA Fitness. They have open lanes all day long and will let you sign up for a free guess pass which will cover you while you are in town for a week.
The Willowbrook Hilton is where I would stay for work before I moved to the area because I got free passes to LifeTime Fitness with my hotel stay.
The Sports Villa is not a good option unless you go with a member. Members can bring guests for free. The limit however is two entries per guess in a month. You will have to resister as a guest so it doesn’t matter if you go with different members. They still will know how many times you have entered.
Fleet Swim is a Masters Swim program. You get coached swim sessions three mornings a week at 5-7am (time?). It might work if you like swimming early and the days line up with your schedule.
The Magnolia Masters Swim group had two evening swims (6pm? Time?) last I checked. They have locations 30 minutes from Cypress in Magnolia and one in The Woodlands 35 minutes from Cypress. I think they have some morning swims too. It would probably be worth the trip to meet Tim. He is always posting swim videos of his Pro Triathlete clinics in the local Tri groups and here on ST. He is very generous in sharing his knowledge.
