Cyclops vs. Kreitler Rollers

I’m losing daylight to ride in after work. I have the Cyclops Mag+ trainer that I used with Spinnervals DVDs and some spin classes at the LBS last winter. Now I am looking to expand that with some rollers to work on my stroke and handling skills at least once a week this winter. Has anyone used the Cyclops rollers? Are the rollers quieter than the trainer? I’ve only read about rollers, but haven’t seen them in use. I’ve read recommendations on the forum for the Kreilter, but haven’t found posts on the Cyclops.

thanks

Kreitler has been for years the Gold Standard for regular rollers. I would say you can’t go wrong with them.

If you want to see the rollers in action, you can go to youtube.com and do a search for bike rollers. They have several videos showing people trying them out for the first time. It looks tricky, but pretty cool.

i think insideride is now the new ‘gold standard’, and by a long shot …

Do the rollers actually help that much with balance out on the road ? I only ask because I’m rubbish on the rollers, but never have problems in the real world ?

i think you notice a difference if you spent some significant time on them during the winter and then went out in the spring and tried to sit on the white line on the road. I remember my first winter on rollers, that spring I was sitting on that white line and felt oh so smooth. Next winter I was off the rollers and couldn’t hold the line in the spring.

I have the Cycleops rollers. They are well-made and I got a bit of a discount on them. I had considered Kreitler but the ones I would have wanted were just too much $$$.

I can’t think of any reason the Cycleops are not good enough for me.

CycleOps rollers are actually made by SportCrafters. The difference is the color of the frame and that the SportCrafters drums are computer spin balanced while the CycleOps ones are not.

I rode Kreitlers for a long time and have been on the SportCrafters for the past 4 years. No difference between them other than price.
