Cyclometer question

the cadence feature has stopped working on my cyclometer (Vetta RT-77).
Everything else works perfectly.

Obviously - I can most likely live without it - but
have started to think (at this point, I’m thinking
about riding more than I am actually riding)
I may want to graduate up to wireless.

Is it worth it ? Do the batteries need to
be changed a lot ?
(I hate changing batteries, btw).

That Mavic integrated cyclometer
(that is embedded in it’s own skewer)
looks pretty sweet.

Heck, maybe I just have too much money right now ??

all feedback welcomed, and TIA

Dan

Check the battery. Some batteries burn out faster than others.

forgot to mention - just replaced the battery - so I
figure it’s either in the wiring or the (crank) magnet.

Hmmm. I don’t see how it could be the magnet. (Magnets don’t tend to just quit working.)

TheMavic computer is nice, but only get it if you have mavic wheels already. Style points my man. style points.

the problem with wireless is you now have 2 batteries to change and the transmitter batteries wear out quicker than the receiver. I have a wireless cateye sitting in a box in my basement. The huge transmitter didn’t mount nicely on my fork so I went back to the cateye astrale 8.

Same here, I started with a wireless Cateye and found it unreliable. I’m now on a astrale 8 and have had no problems. Wires are pretty easy to hide and it’s much more reliable.

thanks for all the tips.
Guess I’ll just shop for a new wired cyclometer
w/cadence (I like that feature - esp avg/max cadence).

I do have Mavic wheels, though
(trainers are Open Pro and Race wheels are
Ksyrium SSC/SLs).

Hmmmm

I’ve had a wireless Specialized computer for years. You need to replace the transmitter battery about every 8 months, or so. Other than that, it works great.
