Cyclocross bike advice: '09 Aquila Elite CX or '09 Scott Team CX

Which is the better choice: '09 Aquila Elite CX or '09 Scott Team CX.
Price
is similar, both have ultegra/105 mix. Scott is a more recognized name
but Aquila is a local company. I like the cable routing of the Aquila.

I see that you have asked this in a few places.

Since you are in toronto I would fist ask what you are using this for?

If it is racing then I would pick the scott. More sizes, most likely lighter, better geometry( not overly slack seat tube).

If it is for commuting I would pick a Specialized Tricross as neither of the bikes you have listed have provisioned for fenders although you could make them work on the Aquila with brackets.

You may also want to look into Devinci and Hub City can assist with getting this bike for a good price.

I would personally not go for the aquila as anlyone that rides a CX bike would be comfortable sitting that far back on the bike. Also if you do have a tri bike you will have a harder time working from 78 plus seat angle to 72.

i’m not sure about pricing but I just bought a guru and am very happy with how it worked out. A lot of cross bikes come with the avid brake, they are kind of a weak point for racing, also the wheels are usually crap, sometimes they spec a compact or triple crank which is not great for racing and usually the tires are not good. Hopefully the shop sellin the bike can work with you to ensure the bike has the parts you need for your purpose. There are a ton of bikes out there in the 1200usd price range, mostly it’s a matter of top tube length and bottom bracket ht, some bikes have a pretty high bb drop, others are more like a road bike. I lean toward the low BB as courses are more open now in ontario

Which one fits better?

MOST folks buy CX bikes that are too small, so make sure you are fitted correctly. Go onto any CX forum gallery and everyone has a stack of spacers and an upward pointing stem…

Take a look at Ridley… the ultimate in CX bikes…

I went with the Scott Team CX… looking forward to riding it…
