Well, I have a a pair of PBKs cheap bib tights and nashbars too, mostly used for cold MTB riding, looking to get a better quality set for riding tri bike, since the cheapo’s are comfy on mtb but not as much on Tri bike.
Not sure whether to go for some nice bib knickers or tights? Any recc’s?
Would generally recommend shorts with leg/knee warmers over knickers/tights. You can use the shorts year round versus seasonal clothing - super cold -then layer shorts and warmers.
thanks, I have knee warmers, but not the biggest fan but I havent used on bike yet (used leg warmers last year but were a little big) used them mtb and the move around a little, I have a small but skinny legs. Plus where they get pulled up to that area can get a little annoying in aero.
Knickers are great - I use mine from 35-55 degrees. I have PI’s - they are pretty nice. Knee warmers are a PITA and I only use them when riding 60+ miles with start temps in the 40’s and finishing temps above 60.
I used knee warmers for years. Still use tights in temps below about 40. I bought some bib knickers last year and they’ve been awesome. I use them anything below 65 degrees now. My knees, although perfectly fine, are 42 years old now and they like me better for taking care of them. Bibs are awesome whether shorts, knickers, or tights.
Each to his own, but I find that knee warmers are the most versatile item I have in my cycling apparel wardrobe. Put them on for starting off cooler rides in the morning and then take them off and stuff them in a back pocket when it warms up. Take them along if you think it’s going to get cooler or rain on a ride and then out them on. They go on/off a lot quicker and easier than full leg warmers and tights and take up not too much space in a back pocket.
Pearl Izumi has a slightly longer cut knee warmer that when on is about mid calf on me and is perfect.

x2 that way I can still wear my favorite couple bib shorts almost year round- otherwise I’d have to have a couple pairs of shorts and a couple pairs of knickers. Cost effective, besides being convenient for rides that warm up.
