Cycling in Aruba? Travel case?

Hi… I’m going to Aruba in Feb. I want to either rent a road bike or bring my bike there.

Looking for suggestions on places to rent or the best possible travel case to buy.

Thanks!

Was there about 10 years ago, a local warned me about minimal cycling space on the roads ahead of time.

He suggested that I bring a mountain bike - which I did. Had a great time riding the dirt roads and trails
on the back side of the island.

Would freak out some of the “tourist types” who would see me when they were out on the “jeep safari”
tours and I’d see later aound the pool. There was a store near what used to be the natural bridge ( I heard
it collapsed) to refill fluids. Only incident was when I came up on a wild donkey who wasn’t thrilled that
I was on his road.

x2 on the mountain bike and not the road bike. I would not have felt safe riding on the road.

Set up a trainer on the “European style” beach on Renaissance Island. That’s a good time right there.

I was thinking about going back to Aruba and staying at the hotel that shuttles out to Renaissance Island. When I was down there last time we stayed up at eagle beach. Was Renaissance Island nice or worth going to? It’s fairly cheap and out of the hurrican belt.

We were at the Downtown Marriott for a week, and spent probably 5 days on Ren Island. It was OUTSTANDING. There are flamingos and huge iguanas that walk among the beach chairs. Waitresses bring you buckets of beer and the best fish po-boys. On the last day we got a couples massage on the private little hut at the point. It was pretty damn fun. You gotta try it. I’ll see if I can find some pictures.

Here are some pics of Ren Island. Warning, some contain bewbs.

I was there in 2007. Lots of roadies on the west resort side. I found this shop by accident one day driving around.

Thanks for the photos. Trying to decide where to go for the honeymoon but were on a pretty tight budget.

You just wanted to post pictures of bewbs.

Success!

I stayed in the mariott ocean club a year ago. I wouldn’t bother bringing the bike but would rent a mtn bike while there. (A cross bike would be ideal) The whole back side (eastern side) is pretty much deserted and there are dirt paths all over them. If you do a google maps and use the satellite option you can see the trails. The views are pretty stunning. Another thing we did that was pretty cool was rent snorkeling gear and swim along the shore from arashi bay up on the N. tip back to the resort. Whatever swimming hole you are used to will seem pretty boring after that…it’s like being in a tropical fish tank.
