Cycling camps in Majorca?

Planning a cycling camp vacation for the Mrs. and myself in Majorca.

We’re shooting to go there around September and November and we’re planning on bringing our own bikes.

Who have you used and how were they?

Thanks in advance!

Are you looking for a cycle guide ( to cycle around and enjoy the scenery ) or are you training and thus needing distance/hills etc ? Makes a difference about who l recommend etc.

I train in Majorca each spring, sometimes in September, its a glorious cycle destination !

I haven’t gone on one but I know some of them and couldn’t more highly recommend them.

Yep definitely need a bit more information to give you any useful advice. Budget, do you want a specific type of accomodation, is it purely cycling or would you like other things, what do you need from a guide/coach point of view.

Not sure where you are coming from but from UK the standard sun holiday package deals are incredibly good value for money and take away and hassle of organisation. There is so much cycling information online (articles, gpx files etc.) It’s easy enough to plan the cycling part yourself.

Definitely training.

Best cycling and training in Europe, though I am biased maybe because I live and train on the island for 9 months of every year…people on this forum clearly want to help you, but you really need to be much more detailed about your needs - what ate you training for, what is your level, do you want to be part of a group or a bespoke personalised program, mountains or flats…, ? etc, etc, etc

The guy that l would recommend is Nick Kinsey ( he is on a website called Which Training Camp - Ironman/Mallorca.) He has a place in Pollensa and goes out from the UK to train himself and with clients, he does quite a lot of pre Kona prep for athletes going onto Hawaii etc and some of the Team GBR para - olympic athletes.

Nick has a stellar ironman race record, he is a Lanzarote specialist, he gets his Kona qualification there, and he was 10th is his age group in Kona about 3 years ago. He knows the island of Mallorca like the back of his hand. He is very quick in all three disciplines but also an easy going, pleasant guy and will go the pace that you want. He taught me how to ride my TT bike in aero position and for that l am most grateful.

There is an indoor pool in Pollensa where you can train ( if the sea is too cold ) and a very decent running track just a couple of miles outside of town, where Nick takes us for speed work, transition training etc.

A small note for first timers to Mallorca - there are a few towns (Pollença being one, Alćudia is another) where there’s an older town inland and a more modern Port town on the water. Most of the cycling stuff is in Port de Pollença, but Pollença is more charming if you’re traveling with someone who isn’t cycling. They aren’t super far apart (~10km), but relevant if you’re looking at routes/picking up a rental, etc. We ended up with an awesome townhouse in Pollença that was a great base since I was the only one cycling.

you could also go to Gran Canaria, there Freemotion offers plenty of cycling routes that would fit in your training.

and of course, in Lanzarote you have Sands Beach Resort and La Santa… where you can find plenty of international training campus for almost any sport

I had the pleasure of being on a team with Scott Moninger for a few seasons. He’s one of the coaches with Velocious and just an all around amazing guy. I’d love to ride around Mallorca with him. Amber Neben is another coach for Velocious and she’s also a fantastic person.

If I was looking for a Mallorca camp, I’d definitely look into Velocious.

Very cool. Yep Scott is my connection. In my delusional attempt at racing years up in Boulder late '80’s/early '90s, we rode together a lot. And played some music when I was learning to play guitar and he patiently played drums. A few years ago he introduced me to Tim Cusick when they ran a camp down here in central Texas. Just awesome folks and if I could make a Mallorca camp, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Check out Mallorca Cycling Tours. Great people. They often have multiple groups in a day for different paces but meat up for stops, lunch etc. it can be casual or fast training depending what your looking for.
