Cycling Bibs vs. shorts

A good pair of bibs is essential. The last thing I want to think about on a bike ride is how uncomfortable I am in my shorts.

I have the tri bibs. I have been tempted to race in them. they are the greatest for long bricks. Great on the bike and the run. Much better for the back since there is no pressure on the waist or lower back.

Don’t know about Emilios bibs, but I usually have to size up on bibs as I am 6’1" with a long torso, so I need bibs to fit a 6"3" guy. I sometimes sew in a few inches of suspenders off an old set to a new set to meet the length requirement. Big Emilio when are you going to make a a skin suit with sleeves?. My old one is getting pretty thin, and I am in the market.

Personally, I think it varies by individual, for most people, bibs are better, but for me, not the case. The one pair of bib’s I have (Pearl Izumi’s) are NOT more comfortable than my regular biking shorts (Pearl Izumi’s, the ~$70 pair), in fact, they are not even as comfortable. I have a longer torso and it almost feels like I’m getting a wedgie from them. Pressure around the waist, I don’t notice it from my regular shorts, and the bibs constrict my quads too much. I can knock out 120 miles in my regular shorts and do a brick afterward and I’m completely comfortable (as far as clothing is concerned). I use my bibs for short indoor rides only (the opposite of everyone else).

Bibs are sexy.

Plus you are ready to wrestle, as soon as you get off the bike.

“When you are a man, sometimes you wear stretchy pants.”

We will not be making them with sleeves anymore (I thought there would be a larger demand for them, but I was wrong), but I will have something very cool that you appreciate and that you can use with our current Power Skinsuit.
