I’m looking around online and can’t find anything that’d fit my dimensions. I lift moderately and hit Mediums on waist and hip measurements (32.5â€/37â€) but have a large torso (41.5†chest) and 12.5†biceps. If I get a large suit I’m worried about flappy top, but I might not be able to squeeze or zip up the speed suit if I get a medium. I’ve also got thunder thighs but looking at some pros quads hopefully that’s not a big concern.
Sans ripping it I also don’t want to cut off blood flow. Sitting at 6ft and 180lbs—does anyone have recommendations for a speed suit? I’m racing crits and road races more lately and wanna reward myself if I cat up in a few months.
Actually… if there’s Memorial Day sales I might get it early and promise myself a podium / cat-up in advance lol.
The NoPinz stuff is the way to go. They have scienced the poo out of their fabrics and you can send them individual measurements to get a semi-custom suit made for a less than totally ridiculous price.
agreed, the Nopinz option is top tier.
Quite a few of the track sprinters I know have had good luck with the fit of the Velotec suit off the shelf as well.

Less than $400? Haha that’d be incredible!!
Edit: looking at them now these are great. Thanks! I’ll check out velotec later too…

Try researching track sprint or “Keirin” skinsuits. Those would have to fit that, lookup pics of those folks and you’d understand there must be a fit difference. Beat around a euro based track enthusiast website and ask about one of those.

“Ridiculous†is a relative term when it comes to the price of bike stuff ;-). Custom fit speedy suits can save you an addition 5-10 watts, so even a $500 premium would be reasonable compared to many upgrades, like some of the newer wheels or just about anything that says Ceramic Speed.

Is that 5-10 watts at 30 mph when compared to off-the-rack offerings from Castelli and BioRacer?

it REALLY just depends… and suits are awful particular to seemingly random stuff ime. (But especially helmets)
It seems like in general you’re safer with the “panel” style suits (that fit tight, but not so tight that it warps the panels) than the trip style ones (as far as it not being terrible) but the trips in the right spot can be good… one of those things it’d be nice to have about 5 hours of free tunnel time to test suit/helmet combinations

As long as the suit compliments the bike’s color scheme it’s automatically 5W! If you look fast you are fast
Those look nice, but some races have different number configurations… For my week night crits they would work great with 1 number.

As all things aero are concern, the answer is that it depends, if my memory is correct GCN tested the difference in the off the rack and custom suit at the Boardman wind tunnel and they saw a 9 watt difference at 30ish mph (I don’t know if the Boardman tunnel uses freedom units or metric),
Go with what fits your lower half. Speed suits and race suits are usually sized smaller and to stretch. I am 6’3" 190 lbs and have a weight lifters lower body but a cyclists upper body. I wear large bibs and small/x-small jerseys. No issues with jerseys being too tight either. This is because I routinely carry two or three bottles in my jersey pockets and I cannot stand for my jersey to sag on my butt. I prefer the Euro cut jerseys that are cut shorter in the torso. For my speed suits and race suits I where a large. I do not have any issues with having too much material on the upper half. In fact, its a strain to get them on. Of course sizing always varies by brand. Especially between North American versus European companies. I wear Pactimo kits and have never had an issue with their sizing.
