CycleOps Mag Trainer Weld Failed

So after roughly 3 years of use the weld on my CycleOps trainer failed. I’ve since replaced with a Neo but still have the old mag trainer kicking around (not totally sure why). I emailed their customer support to see if they could help me out with a replacement (figure would be a nice back-up or my wife might use it for some indoor cycling). Anyone have a similar issue with a successful resolution? The kicker is that I bought the trainer when I lived in Boston, now in London so not sure how the ‘return/exchange’ type thing would work…

I had hundreds of hours on the thing so it was by far one of the best purchases I’ve made in terms of training, so maybe i’m just being overly nostalgic.

Could find a local metal shop and see if they could weld it back together…

Any thoughts?

That is not a weld failure. The weld is in good condition. The base metal itself fractured.

Cycleops has a lifetime warranty on all trainer frames. The page says they will repkace ut free if charge.

Ask them to send it to a friend’s or family member in the US then pay to have it shipped to yourself.

The fact the weld us intact should not make a difference. Some part of the frame failed. As long as you were not taking a hammer to it they should honor their warranty.

Saris has a great customer service. I would call them and explain. My guess is they replace it with no questions asked

Yep- not technically a weld failure - it’s in the base metal / HAZ. Try a warranty claim. But if you get nowhere it should be easy enough for a competent fabricator to repair.

I’d bring it to a cheapo exhaust repair shop for a quote. They weld all day and it’s an easy job for them.
