Some people also have more acidic sweat that can eat through shorts a lot quicker than most other people. If you’re going to leave them lying around for a few days before you wash them, give them a good rinse in water as soon after the ride as possible.
it’s right through the louis garneau aleveo shorts.
Those seem like a good short - from what I can tell looking at them on-line. Hard to really tell without looking at them for real.
I have shorts that I have had for years and they are fine.
I have a number of older pairs that I only use inside. They are getting a bit worn, but perfect for CT rides. I save my newer SUGOi shorts for outside.
You definitely want to have more than a few pairs so you have time to wash and line dry them.
Also, make sure you hang them to dry AFTER use. If you stick them in a hamper wet/damp, fungus will develop and really eat away at them quickly. (Same with bathing suits)
x2 on Pearl Izumi. Something about their fabric just doesn’t stand up - mine lasted only 1 month before they started going see-through. I always rinsed after, washed in cold and air dried. By comparison, I abuse my LGs and TYRs and they keep coming back for more. A pair of De Sotos I had lasted 2 years as my only training shorts.
It’s most likely the quality/thinness of the material. I’ve never had good luck with Louis Garneau stuff. On the other hand I’ve got Sugoi stuff that 5+ seasons old and is still completely useable. I never machine wash or dry any technical clothing.
the bigger question is, did you find out abut the problem or did somebody find out for you?
A few years back I started wearing DeSoto power lycra tri shorts for all biking (Road, Mtn, TT, Tri)and racing (running too). Sometimes I wear them hiking, and for support under-draws. I love the fit, feel, etc. The only problem is that I keep wanting to try the new styles and colors but I can’t seem to wear the perfectly good old ones out.
I have no opinion on your hind sides!
I agree with you on the PI wearing issue. I have a pair of Ultra sensor bibs, that after 9 months of training are starting to get a little thin in the rear. My wife noticed last weekend on a ride. Although, 9 months with these as my primary atire, now that I think about it, not really that bad. I’ve had to replace two tires, countless tubes, and one chain in the same time frame. I would think that this is not out of the realm of reality for $125 set of bibs. Am I wrong?
Ya get what ya pay for. Buy cheap…and…well…you end up writing a thread like this…
